I use Black Stallion MIG gloves for both SMAW and MIG.

I still wouldn't want to hold onto something really hot for very long; the leather will absorb some of the heat and you'll find yourself yanking your gloves off pretty quickly depending how hot it is.

 

Finally something that isn't 100% accurate... I've never been one for punching drywall
