Radar cruise is unable to be tuned in any software available. It uses dynamic shift points to maintain the distance as well as braking. It is something that people have request from every tune for years and it just isn't possible.

Currently, ECT references different torque settings, different shift points, along with slightly modified accelerator requests. This allows for slightly better driving when on the highway for longer periods of time, but also doubles as a tow function. In future updates we will be more focused on the towing functionality and less on providing a similar but improved dynamic.

Since we now have access to a few more tables than we did months ago, along with discoveries we have made during the development of other tunes, future changes to how ECT functions as well as the tunes in general will become more apparent.

    Valley Sport Is AVAILABLE!!!

After numerous software issues, restarting, rebuilding, losing access to files, etc. Valley Sport is available for purchase through our website! ValleyTune.com

Sport comes in Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Stage 1 is a more controllable version of the tune, shift points are slightly different than Stage 2 in order to provide more optimized shifting.
Stage 2 is an all out power tune. It takes getting used to but is able to be daily driven if desired. This tune is designed to safely push the Tacoma to its limits.

Both versions utilize ECT as a true tow/haul mode. Adjusted torque tables, airloads, shift parameters, and other refinements make this button function as more than a simple light on the dash!

There are no pedal sensitivity options for Valley Sport, this defeats the purpose of the tune as it is NOT designed to compete with Valley Runner. VR remains the premier daily driving tune available for the 3rd Gen Tacoma.

TacomaWorld users can use code TW25 for 25% off until 6/20/2022!!! Code: TW25

Except for the ECT function and shift parameters, the MT tune has the same performance?

I’ve been running VR for my daily drive (@80 miles city/highway/mostly flat) and absolutely love it. I just purchased VS Stage 2 and am excited to start using it, but nervous with tanks of gas around $100. However, you can’t put a price on happiness, right? Thanks for your hard work on these tunes!

The MT tune is identical to AT, shift points are not present obviously, but it still provides a different performance.

Testing has shown that gas mileage doesn’t take a hit once you get used to the tune. After a while of just driving it normally, some testers actually got a small increase over VR.

Highway driving is a lot better on sport! Thing zooms on the highway.

Also how different is the tip in from stage 1 to stage 2?

The difference between S1 and S2 is pretty dramatic. S2 experiences the full powerband around 2200 RPM where as S1 will slide into the band around 2400-2500. This is why we mention S1 as being more controllable in low speeds.

I know you personally were around for the very very early experiments of Valley Runner with the heavy pedal option… imagine that but more intense ;)

I couldn’t imagine much more intense than that! Sounds like stage 1 is the go to for me.

Do either of the sports tune require use of 91 octane?

It’s manageable after a learning curve. Very very fun though.

All Valley Tuning products are octane learning at this point. The tune will adjust to regular or premium. Pump what you want (I know premium near us is $6.10 now)

I have to agree…S2 is very, very fun to drive! Smooth and powerful is how I would describe S2. Now to put a few tanks of gas through it and a drive over the passes…looking forward to it. Thanks for the great tune!

Have you learned and adjusted to the low end torque yet? It took most of the testers around a day or two. Either from them playing with the truck as a toy or a learning curve

I really want to try sport, just for fun, not because I need it. I'm very happy with VR. I just figure the advantage of having VF tunner is being able to easily flash something different.

Do learned values need to be reset going between VR and Sport?

Oh yeah, the low end torque is great! I haven’t tried it in 4WD yet, but it is super easy to spit the gravel in my driveway. I keep a pretty light touch on the pedal to begin with, so it didn’t take but a few drives to adjust to it. I am loving the way it holds my gears going up and over minor grades. It will be a couple weeks before I hit the passes with it, but from how it performs already, I know it will be awesome. You were right about the gas mileage too. Slight improvement for me…not sure if that is because my VR was for 30 inch tires and I was running it with my 31.5 and now I am running S2 for 31.5 with 31.5 currently mounted. It is definitely a night and day difference between VR and S2. I’m not sure I will go back to VR. I guess it depends on how it does in 4WD.

I believe half the testers went back since they wanted a more tame daily truck, majority of the installers are on sport now as their preference.

    Glad you're enjoying it!

Going from VR to Sport shouldn't require a LV reset as the foundation from what they are build is identical. However, should you experience any odd or irregular driving dynamics, attempt a LV reset as usual.

I assume a LV reset should be performed if coming from another "brand" of tune, i.e. KDMax?

Correct. We have always recommended resetting LV when coming from all tunes that are outside of the VT brand
