I’ve used one similar on the golf course mowing steep hills. Climbs like a goat but terrible in the knees with the articulation.

5 hour oil change complete. Does anybody have a recommendation for a hour meter? Is it worth it on something I should just change the oil yearly?

 

Having data is better then wondering to me. You can get all sorts of different hour meters for not much money anymore.

 

I put me of these on a suitcase generator I carry in my work van, either I don’t use it as often as I though (possible) or it’s not extremely accurate

Dumb question on small trailers, are the bearing typically standard size? Thinking about getting a used 5x8 sized trailer. Ive only greased them so never messed with them. Buying used, bearings and tires would be my only real concern.

 

All pretty standard stuff.
Your local TSC should have every repair part you would ever need.
Unless the trailer has been submerged, 80 mph while grossly overloaded or run with the dust caps off the bearings are usually pretty trouble free. Repack them when you get the trailer and you are good for 10 years or more.

 

We always had junky stuff growing up so breaking down on highway is always a concern. Plus you never know what the last ownwer did or didnt do. Hopefully i can find something cheaper than full price of new trailers...

 

Decent used trailers are insanely expensive now.

 

One of the reasons I am building my own for the splitter. I'm seeing people selling HF trailers for $1k after adding side boards and beating the crap out of the trailer. I'd rather have 3.5k ez lube axles instead of a 1.5k pos axle with questionable bearings and spindles. It is sometimes better to spend extra money to have something that will last a lifetime than to save money but get something that will break down and be left on the side of the road in a year or two.

 

My state makes is extremely difficult to title a home built trailer -- just isn't worth the aggravation.
As a consequence of this, or a benefit if you happen to be selling, junk on wheels with a title has a $1000 price tag now.

Probably standardized as has been answered. My experience with my trailers and swapping axles has been the #2200 and #3500 axles have all used bearings that were nothing special and pretty consistent based on the axle diameter itself.
