Seriously.. have my 5100s at 1.75 right now.. Thinking of putting the cash down on some UCAs so I can go 2.5.

Any REAL benefit other than looks???

Well, The wheels/tires that came on the truck were 31.5x11.5x18 and they rubbed the frame so 5100s set on 2.5 got me off that and allowed me to go with 32x11x18s without any rubbing anywhere. Didn't feel the need to buy new rims to go back to 17s so yes, in my case, more than looks and yes, the UCAs allowed caster to be correct and it rides/drives like a truck should (for me)...even with E load tires and progressive TRD springs on them. It'll get a bit harsh on crazy offroad stuff but I don't do any of that since it's prerunner.

Not necessary unless you want to go with bigger tires. I went to 2.5" and then fought with vibration issues. (think I have it fixed now)
As it turns out, I don't need that much lift, but I do get a lot of looks.
Just be aware that for some, going up that additional .75" does create issues for
    some. (seems random)

OP I think theres a handful of people running the 5100's at 2.5" without aftermarket UCA's
I had mine at 2.5'' without new UCA's and was fine.

Yea.. I know.. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will need UCAs to go to 2.5... Better than hoping then having the issue come up. I would rather open her up once rather than twice.. plus going for an additional alignment is more $$ if you gotta do it twice..

Reepur - is your vib issue documented on the forum? If so, I gotta search to read up on that...

I have the stock sport rims with slightly taller tires..

Mine is prerunner so no vibe issues, thinkin that's mostly a 4x4 thing unless you luck out and it's the rr driveshaft doin it, mine didn't. I did go awhile without doing the UCAs but my caster wasn't right and it drove all twitchy on uneven surfaces or at frwy speed in wind. As far as alignments go, I'd say get a 1 yr, 3 yr or lifetime one. That way you can get them done free after making changes or just every so often for your tire's sake especially if bouncing around doing offroad stuff. One time = 80 so why not do 100 for 1 yr at least? That way you have time to add UCAs or change heights to get it dialed in how you want it to stay. Just my .02...........

I have mine set at 2.5 with factory uca. Ride is great! Just installed allpro front bumper and the weight made it even better.

    Stock springs also.

I am really glad this thread is up. I had a 2.5" spacer lift (top of coil) and did not care for the ride. I ordered a set of 5100's last week and will be setting them on 1.75" (stock UCA).

I am done with drifting all over the road and I dont care to put down another $400ish for UCA's

I had 3" spacer on my 07 with 285s stock ucas and coilover. Never had an issue. With several trips from Vegas to WY under the belt.....$0.03

K... am I now just being stupid and also not wanting to plug down $400 on some UCAs?

Thinking about putting the 1/4" spacer on my existing set-up.. Toytec web site says this will give me about 1/2" (don't ask me how a 1/4" spacer will give you more than 1/4" but that is what it says...). So... total lift will be around 2.25, good enough to give me a little more "look", under the 2.5 that some say UCAs are needed for.

You dont need new UCA for a 2.5" lift. The issue is 3". PM chris4x4 he knows alot about all the numbers

First, everyone here will just go round and round about it. Those that need them and have them swear by them and others swear you don't need them lifted same way. Just do what you want to do lift, tire & wheelwise & deal with what you end up with...............or listen to what Chris4x4 says.

Second, that spacer is just to fix the lean that these trucks come with up front where the driver's side ride height is 1/2 inch lower than the passenger side when you don't run coilovers that can compensate for the difference.

As far as 1/4" spacer equalling out to 1/2" lift, think of a pendulum. Wait! Not a pendulum.
    Someone help me out here!

^^ but is it is possible to get perfect alignment at 2.5. is there enough to give and take?

Not the numbers I have listed in the past. You can get about 1.4* of Caster (Max), but thats it. You should be over 2.4* or so.
