    Hello-

I just got this car from my dad, actually he's somewhat forcing me to buy it from him.

Anyway, I try looking for info if this is a TRD. The side sticker said TRD offroad, but I didn't find a 120V outlet (where is it at?) The shock is not blue or yellow (it's black). It have the engine skid plate, but not as nice as other I saw online. And in the interior, I do not see the RR diff lock. Also there's no outside temp or compass.

    It's a 2006 crew (4x4 for sure) shortbed...

^ What he said. It's a step up from base model (SR5) with OEM TRD OR bedside decals. Another thing that gives it away is the wheels and tires and beige interior color.

yeah, at some point in that trucks life someone got screwed out of a few grand buying what they thought was a TRD offroad, only to end up with an SR5. Those are SR5 wheels, SR5 shocks, and SR5 interior.

Nothing wrong with the truck itself, just dont pay TRD offroad prices for it.

Buying from my dad, because he's having a tough time lately. The oil drips is from my old camry that I just sold. He didn't tell me about TRD or anything, my dad is just a simple guy... but it and drive it.

I guess my dad got somewhat hustle by the dealer or something, he said he paid 25-26K new for it back in 2006.

I was hoping it's a TRD, but still very happy that I got a Crew cab Tacoma!!!

I told him he could get a least 16k for it if he just sell it, but he rather sell it to me for 13k. Only got 45k miles on it too.

And THANKS you guys for clarify it to me.

it's a very good deal the price your dad gave you. I have a TRD and the skid plate looks just like mine, I think the ones you're talking about is the silver/aluminum ones, which is a toyota aftermarket. The other thing, i don't see any tow hooks in the front.

I can't imagine the dealer sold it as a TRD because the window sticker has all the specs and MSRP. But pretty misleading if the dealer put a TRD sticker on it. If they did that to your father I would report them to Toyota of America, as they do not want their franchises doing stuff like that. Another difference between the SR5 and TRD is the TRD has better seats, so sounds like your Dad did relatively overpay for it new, compared to the deals many people get. Sounds like he paid close to MSRP?

Congrats on the deal with your father, and keeping it in the family. Enjoy the Tacoma!

I've always wondered about the color of the TRD shocks. I got the spring TSB done and my shocks are black but the part number matches what was on the TSB which I believe is the TRD Off road shocks. Did I get hosed or does the color not matter?
