No, when they they hung the window the opening was not square and they didn’t shim the bottom of the window but I’m told they shimmed it today when the finished up the trim….

Living near the water reservation you'll figure he would have good water pressure. The water pressure sucks. With a garden hose, he barely let put a 6 ft stream. City reply, Bigger pipes decrease water pressure. Plus the poverty cries.

His father used to work for the city, license plumber. He would fix any clog issues.

No I would go broke! Hahhaha One side is done you can see the dirt in the first two pictures. Just fill dirt. I have the dirt. I have the shovel. I have the cart. I think I'm going fishing then the farmers market. Ha!

It's on the the list. When I getaroundtoit. Maybe next week. I hate hauling dirt, And those rocks were heavy!

 

I asked at the stone place yesterday.

They said, "concrete is fine. Just don't use natural stone as it will definitely crack". For an "open fire pit the concrete blocks I used won't crack" they sell the same ones and have used them at their places and many customers. No cracking.

 

What about back filling with dirt then Mexican Pebbles on top as a accent?

Solar light would look nice around the wall.

 

I didn't understand why manufacturer would sell fire pit and not use something that withstand high heat. This is what bought on this question.

With the bottom of the pit kit the bottom fill (gravel, sand) Does it go to the steel ring?

If it does, would that mean the bricks are exposed?

 

Naw. Not worth the hassle. Turf up to the wall. Floating rocks are always hassle in my 40 years of home(s) ownership.

Solar lights just piss me off. They ARE nice for a bit. But we are so far north and so wet. When you need light, they have not charged long enough and then during outdoor party season it stays light past 10PM anyway. Then the next year they shit the bed and into the hopper.

That said I have purchased two sets of 120V LED string lights. Will use 1" black iron pipe and flanges to string. Should look and function well. I have cable and crimper, etc

 

Exactly. I am not sure what was going on and what bricks were used when the guy posted that his cracked, or his church's pit cracked.

Not sure I understand your question. Steel rings are exactly that. They have no bottom - well as far as I know they don't. Some rings I have seen just hang by a lip and go down a few inches, others are 12" tall.

Depends. Sure maybe some bricks would be exposed(?)

 

I notice the solar powered light doesn't last long before they start having issues. I ask a electrician, his reply was " they leak rain in through the seams for the batteries. I not sure how these light can be sealed. I thought about the solar lights for accent lighting.

Are longest day the sun sets before 9:00 PM.

With the base I don't know if clean up will be easier.

 

Take them apart and try sealing them with silicone?

 

I just used crushed rock and then cheapass garden vocanic rock in the bottom don't waste money on the expensive BBQ rock. I am not worried about clean up.

Someday I will pull all the steel nails and screws out with a magnet and scoop some excess ash. I suppose a steel ring will make it easier. Steel will keep the bricks free of scorch and creosote.

 

What about some kind of peel n stick weatherstripping? This way I can access the battery compartment.

 

I guess depends where its leaking from and what is getting messed up. id guess its the solar cell leaking and messing up the chip.
