TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I mean a PD (positive displacement) cam would be great. If it was AS simple as it was on the LS engines, but because this is a direct injected engine it complicates things and you need to in most cases pull the heads, drop the engine entirely out of the car or something on the extreme side. They didn't make it easy to do cams/ oil pumps and lifters on these LT engines.

 

Sounds and looks great so far for not being done. Are you having a speed shop install for you? The symmetry is really satisfying.

 

I’d start with looking up any TSB your trx might have. Then look at any bolted on aftermarket part having an issue (air leak somewhere causing an air/fuel ratio imbalance). Look at the O2 sensors (wiring/loose/etc). Then YouTube is your friend. But what do I know, I’m just a YouTube viewing keyboard hero.

 

I mean yeah it does sound great but I have tinnitus and can't handle the drone at 1400- 1800 RPM which is cruising speed in the highway. It physically hurts my ears actually.

The symmetry is in huge part thanks to AFe but the mufflers and keeping the tips in line is in huge part thanks to me because the dude was just going to weld it in all willy nilly and I was like oh hell no, not like that. Lol.

 

I think I know where I messed up. I got gas while truck was running and even let the gas puke out of the filler. Google says an evap issue can cause that code so I’m hoping it’s that. Code came on exactly after that happened too. Found someone to clear it so hopefully it’s that

 

There runs the risk of the fuel getting evap canister as well. Going to get to put in some work today Mr, Evap can. Lol

Luckily, the Tacoma isn't as susceptible to that as other vehicles.

If I tried to go more that the first time the handle stopped, on my Subi, it would fill into other areas it wasn't supposed to, and the car would stumble for the first few minutes after fill-up.

 

Well clearing the code didn’t work. Came back after 150 miles or so. How long till the evap Can clears itself out? Or should I be looking at other issues now?

 

Check the canister itself for fluid? Only vapor should be in there or there is a leak in the system like a cut line or it's been disconnected.

 

If it had fluid in the canister would it be able to get it out? Or only manually?

 

Drain it and try to let it dry via air. Might get lucky. Otherwise you'll need a new one. Another thought is that it itself could got hit by a rock or something and broke the case.

 

Once I get to OKC I’ll check the canister. If anything it’s full of fluid from me overfilling the gas tank

What kind of aftermarket support is there if i had to "Rebuild" Porting SCer, forged internal components Ect... Not overall looking for numbers, just another L o n g Life with a SCed Taco.

 

depends on what your end goal is. if you want basic, rods, pistons, bearings, and valve springs will net you a bottom end that can handle a lot more boost and rpm. And the parts are decently priced. you could run molnar rods, w/cp or je pistons, maybe some king bearings, supertech valve train and that would be a very affordable combo.
