Don’t be surprised if they can. Vynil has made quite the come back.

But I am sure they won’t know why my original A&M pressing of “Frampton Comes Alive” - a 2 LP set - has sides 1&4 on one disk and sides 2&3 on the other...

It was cut and pressed for automatic sequencing... Meaning, it was meant to be played on a record changer.

You'd stack the first disk with side 1 up on the spindle first, then the second disk with side 2 up on the spindle next. You'd then start your changer. It would drop the first disk, play side 1. When complete, the tone arm would retract / move out of the way, and it would drop the second disk, which would begin side 2. Now, when side 2 was done, the tone arm would retract and since there were no additional records on the spindle, it would stop. You'd get up, and simply turn the whole stack over. Now, the bottom disk would have side 3 facing up (on the second disk), and top disk would be the first disk with side 4 facing up. Start the changer again, and you listen to sides 3 and 4.

This video explains the changer and why the records were cut / pressed for them:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuoFW2yAD7g

Multi-record LP's stopped being cut / pressed for automatic sequencing some time in the late 70's. I know my "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever" LP's (originals) are cut for single play...
