I'm curious about the tune. Are you happy with it? With all the weight I've added in skid plates, racks, and sliders my truck feels really really heavy. I'm hoping a tune will help. I think I've added like 500 pounds minimum

Similar setup here (got the 12 inches version because I was going to use it with a tonneau cover that required the 3 inches tall adapters).B98BAA26-09D5-44C0-B6B1-64D075AF7817.jpg

I’m curious about the tune as well. How do you like it?

I got the OTT tune yesterday. It transforms the truck. The truck should have come this way out of the factory.

Why the OTT tune compared to the KDMax tune?

I am considering a tune but I never get a really good detailed difference between the OTT and KDMax Pro. I can see the sluggish behavior of the truck in the Colorado mountains. But it is hard to pull the trigger on the tune when all I hear is: I love it, this is the way it should have came, and night and day difference. I can’t make a discussion for either tune off of that. I want it to shift better and still keep the 21-22 mpg that I am getting with only 3000 miles on it.

From what I have read, it is better suited to our winter fuels up here. The tune itself is focused on low-end torque and was recommended by my local tuner (KDMax is no longer offered by my tuner).

It's probably a long read but this thread has some comparative info: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/kdmax-or-overlander-tune.757010/

Just to be a newb I’m going to ask it because I think it should be stated and I don’t have a good answer. What is the Beni fit of the low end torquw for the tune?

More power in the lower rpm range. Better performance off of idle. Basically more power in the rpm zone in which I drive most often.

That’s a good point. I drive in the sub 3k rpm range.

Your boring contribution in this thread is less boring than some kinda off-topic posts about tunes. ;-) We want to see electric lime, not hear about generic Tacoma discussions. That’s what you did and I thank you for that.

So far the tune feels great. I just got an upgraded file of the OTT and need to flash to see the difference between the 7.0 and 8.0. Truck shifts super smooth and certainly has more low/mid range.
I really can’t tell I have bigger tires now. I think you’ll be happy.
Here is a good thread to check out..
