Are those 650cc injectors I see?

 

Yup! Seems like stock injectors are hit and miss, running right on the ragged edge. I didn't want to get in the middle of the tuning process and then realize that I needed bigger injectors so I just decided to go with them from the get go.

 

Lucky Gabe was able to tune my motor with stock injectors so when I go to test for emissions next month I won’t have to swap out my injectors to pass when I go back to the stock ECU.

 

Im trying to save up the funds to do this haltech mod myself, definitely seems like a good route for tuning capabilities

 

Is your supercharger up and running yet?

 

wired in a methanol toggle switch into the haltech for the summer heat and now tuned.
My setup doesn't need larger injectors or methanol for its tune, got lucky.
I decided to run methanol for the summer heat to cool down the supercharger so with the toggle switch it goes into another tune mood for the methonal to spray

how does one run the engine off the haltech and keep the stock ecu to control the trans on an automatic truck? the 750 looks like a great budget option

 

I have a 5 speed and I’m setup using the haltech to do everything, so my stock ECU is totally unplugged.
With the auto the haltech will work with the stock ECU because the stock ECU controls the transmission.

 

was asking for myself. just wondering what inputs would be required to make the ecu still control the trans.

 

Updated, 30k plus haltech miles,
haltech has been such a game changer for me and the summer heat of 95 degrees doesn’t kill the power of the supercharger.
I did a 100 mile loop yesterday with on the highway ( cruising, no lead foot) + AC on, outside temperatures at 95 degrees, with new BFG KO2 tires and pulled off 21 miles per gallon at 65-75 mph.
So the haltech will definitely not make your mpg go down hill, if anything you might get better mpg because of the power increase in the lower rpm’s.

 

No methanol yet right?

 

I don't need methanol 4 my tune,
I have methanol setup with a switch through the haltech to a different program setting if I wish to use to reduce HEAT ONLY,
To be honest I haven't used it that much,
With it active using a #1 nozzle it lowers heat about 5 degrees,
I guess if I used a 5 or 6 nozzle and tuned it for that it would reduce alot more

 

Hey did your tuner utilize the knock sensors for tuning? The lower model Haltechs don't even have the option. So wondering if your guy just looked for where power dipped at used that for timing. Did you/he ever encounter pinging?

 

I never had any ping issues,

yes he did use the knock sensors for the tune

there is a section in the haltech that you can modify the knock sensors which he did also.

 

Ordered a 750, Wideband controller, and boomslang for my build and I have some 850cc injectors.

 

Another update with the haltech.

I took the truck up to the mountain divide here in Colorado 12,000 feet for the 1st time from its home base where it was tuned (location at 6000 feet) since the haltech has been installed.

It ran flawlessly at the 10,000-12,000 foot altitude.
With AFR 11-11.5

All that extra torque for me 60lbs plus in the midrange makes this truck run completely different.
Usually even with the supercharger at 12,000 feet the engine runs soft because you have to get the rpm’s up to get the power. Today was a nice surprise having all that power on tap at 2krpms.

such a huge difference in power, can’t say enough good stuff about my haltech

 

I think the trd is a 3:1,
Gabe did a flow test on the OEM injectors and shows an FMU will work just fine. I might try getting the vortech 3:1 FMU because
the trd FMU I’m using is a bit inconsistent with my AFR 10.5-11.3 which is very doable and I’m able to run stock injectors.

 

To those of you running the Haltech, how did you run your 02 sensor wires into the cab? The connector appears to be too large to pull through the wiring grommets.
