    Been away awhile, life…. Hahaha.
Todays picks nothing special but both bottles were below MSRP and both were bottles I really wanted to get a hold of.

I’m into some Henry McKenna tonight and I am loving it. Maybe my bottle needed some air, because I complained about it A LOT!!! Now that it’s been open 3 months and 3/4 empty I am really enjoying it! I’m shocked but pleased.

Let us know your thoughts on the Blade and Bow. It comes from the Stitzel-Weller distillery that was the original producer for Pappy. I rather like the I.W. Harper 15 year that comes out of there because it's A) Tasty and B) Readily Available In My Area which is often a long shot for age stated bourbons over 10 years. I've never tried the Blade and Bow and I'm curious.

I’d like to hear about the Blade and Bow as well. Was recommended by a friend with good taste.

Ok, so initial impressions of the Blade and Bow. Bottle is super nice, seal on it is metal and quite thick the key is a cool way to open it.

Keep in mind this is drink #3, first was a Rebel 10yr wheater, second was Henry McKenna 10yr and now the third is the blade and bow.

Neck pour: good color, very thin, light. Nose is red fruit, strawberries, maybe cherries. Not much ethanol, smells very young and light. This may be due to my previous two being 10yr and a bit higher proof.

On the pallet it’s light and fresh, sweet, taste is still red fruit. Short finish and not a lot of heat. Drinks like the 90-ish proof it is. It’s thin and light, fruity and has a pretty short finish. This isn’t to say i don’t like it, quite the opposite, It’s a wonderful light and sweet whisky. I can actually see drinking this a lot. Makes me think of summer as there isn’t much heat and it smells like strawberries. For the $50 i paid it’s 100% a buy.

Allergies killing my nose. Seemed a little hot at first. Could detect caramel. It's tasty and was a worthwhile purchase.

I had the same experience with the first bottle of EH Taylor I ever had. Neck pour - terrible. Week later, nasty. I had bought 2 bottles, and at that point I was going to see of the store would take the unopened bottle back for a refund! But I waited, and several months later went back to it. It was really good! Glad I didn't return the other. Funny how different bottles are.

The key will be numbered 1-5. If you get each of the 5 keys and send a picture to Stitzel-Weller they will make a personalized cup for you. The kicker is you have to go to the distillery to claim it. When we went there earlier this year, they had an entire room with shelves and shelves of personalized cups waiting for the owner to claim them. Just a little more motivation to do a Bourbon Trail trip I guess. I have key 4 and will be getting another bottle soon. I enjoy the Blade and Bow.
