Lol. Didn't notice either of those until now. Just laughed at the stickers.

The Kona looks like it's the fasst company's handlebars. It pivots for flex. Useful? Debatable. Weird? Yes a little. Haha.

And the brake lever position....i see a lot of those really vertical ones. I think they're more xc oriented than Enduro. Haha! Their sticker doesn't check out in that regards. For sure.

Damn, no joke. One of my friends blacked out for 20 mins after getting home from a ride last week. Make sure to throw some electrolytes down with that water. I've been using saltstick caps for a while now. I used to get gnarly cramps during/after riding and they pretty much stopped happening after I started using the caps.

Haha they have been getting around it seems. I've been itching for a while to ride the new 429. They haven't done a demo here since 2019 or something silly. It was on my top 3 to buy this year but sorry not sorry during that wait I already got a new trail bike (propain hugene) which I am very happy with, and I ain't dropping that kinda dime without riding it first. I know Pivot makes some quality stuff but along with some of the other pricey boutique brands I'm struggling to figure out where they're coming up with that pricing sometimes. The DTC brands are putting out some killer rides for way less money these days.

I've never blacked out from lack of hydration, but I have blacked out early on riding and then ate some gummy's and continued my ride. If your last meal was lunch and your riding at 6 I definitely need a pre-ride snack.

I reached out to them. I think I'm going with a custom solution from https://lonepeakpacks.com/

Great honest review! A welcome candid feedback versus the usual "climbs like a goal and descends like a tiger" or whatever shit people say.

Anyways, I agree on the steep seat tube, I don't think I can ever go back since I've been riding a 78 degree seat tube. It's amazing! Climbing while upright makes my back feel so much better

I had my RTT and bed rack off for some maintenance and found out I can wedge my D6 into my DCSB against my TC bed stiffeners and not need a strap (I used a strap though). Crazy how small a 5ft bed actually is.

Had so much fun with our gang of hooligans this weekend. Glad it all came together!

How blasted from the climb was I? My jersey is on backwards in that pic  I realized and fixed it at stage 6 just before I saw you going up your climb to stage 3

We just rearranged our plans to ride at elevation in Carbondale instead of tackle the Plunge next weekend, for exactly that reason. I really don't know how much fun a ride like that would be with more than a gallon (3 liters on the back, plus a bottle of electrolytes on the bike)

I was on the east coast for a week for work and was able to get some mountain biking in at Powder Ridge in CT with some friends. Here’s a pic of a former Tacoma owner and now Tundra owner on his hardtail Commencal Meta.

Good choice. Everyone I've heard talk about this trail says that even for a "downhill" trail, it's pretty burly in terms of exertion

Yea, this is a big ride with some really challenging terrain and it's in the desert in the middle of the summer... not your average bike ride. It's brutal out in the desert this time of year. We still like to go down there and ride in the summer, but you gotta be done for the day by like 10am.

The Trail429 Enduro build is my daily bike. I also have an older Firebird but I ride the T429 85% of the time. I agree that it can rattle you a little bit in the chunk and high-speed brake bumps. I slow down a bit in the chunk and take time to pick a decent line. The brake bumps are not such a big deal and are usually in short sections. I live in Utah and pretty much everything is "dry conditions" with some rocks and gravel strewn over practically everything. Moab is the only place I have not taken the T429. There's probably a lot I could ride in Moab with the T429, but I'd rather have the long-travel rig.

I don't agree with your take on the climbing position...I'm quite comfortable climbing on this bike. BUT...I'm also used to an even slacker seat angle on the Firebird29 (74.5 on the FB vs. 75.5 on the T429). I guess I don't know what I'm missing with the steeper seat angles!

I do agree that it's an expensive bike (and brand). Not much else to say on that. However, I don't regret the purchase at all and I really love being on this bike!

If you're comfortable then great, but if you're curious...

You should definitely try something with a steeper SA and/or shorter effective top tube length. The stretched out feeling was the most notable thing about the Trail 429 to me (same on the Firebird). Those two bikes feel distinctly different while climbing than anything else I've been on.

any big differences on how SPIN works compared to MIPS? my leatt has their own thing but the helmet itself isn't great. one of the plastic bits that sits in the foam came out. i super glued it in, but now the fit isn't as good as it was.
