Have you lapped Toyota valves before and had them last? I thought you’re supposed to just replace them, lapping makes them too thin and they’ll burn up?

They’re fine to lightly lap. Your not taking much material off.

if they had enough pitting for me to worry about it I wouldn’t lap them, but replace. These weren’t bad. But yea. Any engine I rebuild at work gets the valves lapped if it needs it. Rarely intake, mostly only exhaust, like this one

a/c compressor, alternator, and fuel pump ordered and coming.

this cars a mess of parts. its a 2009 4runner a/c compressor, a 2006 avalon alternator, and a 1993 supra turbo fuel pump.

all being ran by a 2015 sienna ECU with a engine out of a rav4 and pistons from a hybrid highlander.

to top it off the transmission will be pieced together from 2 e153 mr2 transmissions and a camry/solara e153 for the better final gear

Goodies came in. Also engines more assembled. Lack of free time at work has slowed the engine build but it’s coming together. Time allowing tomorrow I’ll be putting the sub pan on and all the other bits and bobs. Need to tack in the Wilhelm oil pan baffle before the lower pan goes on.

More progress on the engine. Pretty much assembled. Also ordered a new transmission from Toyota. I give up trying to deal with these junkyards for a used transmission. I’ll still piece an e153 together. But fuck it, brand new LSD e153 coming from Toyota. Hopefully soon. I’ll know shortly.

Other than the oil pressure sensor and the 2 rear cam sensors, the engine is fully assembled.

transmission ETA is june 24th according to toyota. fingers crossed it shows up sooner.. need to remove the front half of one of the ones i have to take it and use as a template for the cutting i need to do on the engine block. test fitting starters too. If i can get a chance i'll bench fire the engine at some point

slowly been working on it at my buddies shop. gas tank out. (need to clean out the mess and paint the outside), rear bumper was rattle canned and looks 10x better. need to fix the front bumper and get it painted with the hood and fenders too.
    [IMG] [IMG]
engine is also fully clearanced (aka the cuts have been done to make the transmission fit)
got a leak at a heater. will be cutting, flaring, and installing silicon 45 degree hose to fix. this is a common area to crack and this is one of the proven fixes.
also repaired the blown out brake line with some scrap OEM 2nd gen tacoma line. caliper rebuilds next.

2015 sienna engine harness is fully modified to run the car now (it was previously modified.. i just removed the automatic connectors.) no more automatic related bullshit, ECU will be permanently in drive through jumping 2 wires. (changes the throttle mapping to make it more normal feeling) also repaired a damaged set of fuel injector wires.

only thing to do after all this is cut off the rear oxygen connector under the a/c compressor and cap the wires off. entire deloom would be needed for that. sooo we'll cheat on those 4 wires

It’s from discord. So yes probably blocked. I’ve noticed some people say the older ones pop up. No clue why

Removed 3 more connectors. And cut up some other Toyota harness brackets to make the oil pressure wire tuck up nicely and away from the belt. I think it came out pretty factory looking

Got a functional transmission! Marc helped toss together a good one from my 2 bad ones. Surprised to find a KAAZ 1.5 way LSD in the complete one. Between those 2 and parts Marc has laying around I’ve got a mr2 transmission with late model syncros, a kaaz LSD, and since it’s all we could find, a slightly shorter 5th gear.[IMG]

Engines in. No run… I didn’t change a gasket on the engine and it’s leaking from priming the engine. DOH. Wednesday it should run.
