Sorry, it’s a iPad we found while walking, no cell service so apparently they couldn’t use find my iPhone with it.

No one claimed it when I posted it locally, so it’s just getting thrown away if no one else has something they could use it for (parts?).

You could check with apple to see if the serial number has been registered as lost. They could find the apple id associated with it and maybe notify the owners?

From what I found online, Apple don’t give a shit and won’t do shit, unfortunately. The only real options are to wait for them to find you using their Find My **** app or to turn it into the police in the off chance the owners approach the police about a lost device.

I kept it charged and on for a week so they might be able to find it or message me somehow, but nothing. It isn’t cellular and wasn’t on my WiFi, so guess that doomed it.

Took it to the closest police station and they basically advised I could turn it in, but “no one every retrieves these things and they go to auction”. So I opted to keep it and try to hack it…but it’s got the iCloud lock now and I simply don’t need it for parts.

Anyone wanting to use it for drop testing, Target practice, spare parts, etc can have it.

 

If no one else takes it or has a use for it I can use it for parts in the unfortunate event mine breaks or AppleCare runs out, but I have one so if someone else wants to try to open it up they can have first dibs

 

Turn it in to your local PD or SO as found property if it's not yours?
