Time to swap in a V8

 

@nudavinci64 did you guys consider extending 4 wires instead of removing the whole shebang.

 

Can't say it was discussed. We opted for pulling the blower because it would accomplish a few additional things.
1. Would make the RIPP install insanely simple.
2. Allowed for us to additionally install the HPS header hoses
3. Additional opportunity to double check for vacuum leaks
4. Easier install for the @mightytacoman coolant rez.
5. We also installed a new PCV valve. Easy Peasey

 

And don’t forget a new set of Ruth plugs. Even if that side was extended it’s going to make changed “fun” there isn’t as much room in the front corner for the SAI 12-15 tscomas.

props to @SUMOTNK for going to distance when we had just planned to swap RIPPs and new Ruth plugs with a mix of our swivels.

But did allow me to toss in the HPS heater hoses and @mightytacoman 1st gen resi.

id be lying if I say a I have not thought about it but the truck is still a baby in mileage just broke 80k. I’m not done experimenting.

 

What's your impression of the new ignition mods?

 

So far idle and acceleration seem very smooth. Recently added a new battery so startup is instant but hard to tell if that’s any different.

Here's a few pictures from Instagram, I used M8X1.25. 3/4" length. In hindsight you might want to go a little shorter, I had to cut a couple of the bolts or they wouldn't have snugged up.

Let us know when you open it up. I've been hoping for more experiences with the ripp coils.

Thanks mate. Figured I'd add reinforcement, peace of mind, and some style like some nice Ti or stainless bolts like I've been doing everywhere else on the truck.

 

So yours were roughly 20mm long. So maybe 15mm?

 

And shouldn't strip out so easily either.

Anyone try that dual boost/ a/f gauge by innovative? Also any suggestions on pod mounts ?

 

Getting this guy occasionally.. cleared it the other day when it popped up after some cleaning and maintenance. Was good for a day or 2.. just came back on. Sims acting up again?

 

cravenspeed makes a great product. innovative ive heard some complaints about. ive got aem gauges and they have been fine. speedhut is another gauge option. ive got a pilar mount. flaw is i trimmed the top for wiring. this also includes the grab handle i modded to fit correctly.

 

I too had to lightly trim my pillar mount. It’s looks fine now. I also have the cravenspeed steering wheel mount.

I’ve installed the ones behind the steering wheel on 3rd gen it rubbed on the backside also blocked the cluster a lot not sure if it blocks much on 2nd gen?

 

rubbing is solved with light bending. these dashes are limited to aftermarket filler. my craven mount is cut in the center....to fit another gauge. ive got 6 extra in my cockpit. looks like an arcade or small aircraft.
