I hated spam as a kid, even more so as an adult. For some reason potted meat I always liked lol. And sardines too. It’s la delicacy for me really.

As far as retiring goes it is indeed not the best of times. I joke around in here but really I’m set for retiring in August and good to mid 2025 cash wise without touching stocks. securities, etc. I get a nice SS check and a small monthly pension from a former job. A decent IRA for down the road. No time is better than now for me to fully retire. Tried working 2 days a week but that’s often 3 days and it never ends so I have to walk away happy and proud. :D

In........hold on, lemme check.......2001, I went to Philmont scout ranch for a 12 day, 78 mile excursion with my scout troop. We only carried about 2 days worth of food at a time, since there were regular resupply points on the ranch. Anyways, lunch almost every day was deviled ham or potted meat with cheese and crackers. I have never touched it since lol.

Spam, however, I'll munch on that straight out of the can with a fork.

lol yeah you can get burned out eating the same thing too often.

You know I tried some Underwood Deviled Ham a couple years back on a sandwich and hated it. Maybe it’s just that potted meat is what I was accustomed to as as a kid. We weren’t wealthy, but we grilled steaks every week as well and I still love a porterhouse or Tbone. King Crab legs though is my favorite food of all. After that is oysters. as a kid we used to gather them ourselves when we lived in Florida, or you could buy them for a dollar a quart shucked. We were low income but lived like kings.

@theesotericone and I are going to Alaska to go fishing after moass. You wanna come with? Can't get fresher king crab anywhere on the planet. You can peel oysters off the rocks on the beach and eat so many it'll make you sick. Good stuff.

When I was in college in AK I used to ship my mom King Crab. She'd ship me back Rib Eye's. Beef is expensive as fuck up there. Seafood? Cheap as hell. lo

My mom up in WA ships me Tim's Cascade style chips in Sour Cream and Onion because you can't get those here. $16 last week to ship 3 bags. She says I'm cut-off now :(

Inflation really doing a number on my snacking.

good ole southern prepared armadillo meat

I love the smell of spam pan fried on a little butane burner on cold ass mornings in a duck blind, nothing like it. I can smell it just thinking about it

I’m not a hot drink type, I’ll take the boones farm or MD2020 for those early mornings. Gotta get that early morning sugar rush going

West coast of Canadia offers basically the same fishing. Just gotta go a bit further north for the fresh off the dock king crab.

My folks have a place on the NW corner of Vancouver Island where they keep the big boat over the summer to go fishing. It's paradise.
