Modifications & insurance?

I was a “C” student. I struggle in college. I did graduate from high school and college. I look back at my education in high school . I should have been kept back.

We are throwing out kids into a very competitive world. America education is way behind ,compare to rest of the world! America is not even in the top ten school kids in education in the world.

By the way , you say “F” student, that is Ok. My son create his own college degree related to Biology. And my daughter has a Physics degree.

How many people read there car insurance policy and understand every word! Looking at this web site, you can tell people do not read the Toyota manual or understand exactly what it is telling them.

Every sentence or paragraph, two people can read it and you will get different interpretations. Look at at all the lawyers in claims courts for auto insurance? Each one presenting there interpretations. If lawyer and judges cannot figure it out? Think we can?



Maybe printed in black and white, Each one of us may get a different view.

 

Not here is B.C. if it is physically bolted to the vehicle, you have receipts and it falls within legal regulations, then it will be covered. Hell, even if you don't have the receipts anymore, and just have pictures it's still covered. I have no need to contact my insurance provider for any legal modification I make.

 

The point of this is, just let your insurance company be aware of the mods, to protect yourself.
Every insurance company will have different clauses.

I was not aware of this, I did call my insurance company and now I am cover and protected.

I just did a living trust , our lawyer explain each part step by step. But the trust has to be written in certain languages. More for technical wording. Each of the wording applies to mean a certain situation.

if you read your car insurance policy and you understand it. Great. Ever read a physics paper? Easy if you know physics. My daughter for her final grade in physics had to give a presentation in front of a couple of physic Professors. My wife and I were invited. I was “ lost in space”. Lol

 

I admit I never read the whole car rental insurance policy word for word,,if I did my vacation would be over.
I had an idea what it covered.

I admit I never read my truck loan policy word for word , but I understood what could happen if I fail to make payments.

my healthy insurance policy(Medicare) I did try to read it, gets complicated, but I had idea what it covers.

My car insurance policy I admit I never read it, word for word, but had idea roughy what it covers.

It is only when any denial from any insurance company, is when we learn the truths.

The point is , it is written from a lawyers point of view, always that tiny written part that protects the insurance company.

 

In Hawaii. If you got fire insurance to protect your home great. Many years ago when the lava flow destroyed many homes.

if the lava destroys your home ,not cover by natural disasters. But as the lava reach their homes and the fire from the lava burns you house , the fire insurance paid out. This was a case by case. This story was on the news.

 

What does that have to do with your aftermarket parts endorsement on your truck

Good to know exactly what it covers and not cover.? I hope I can understand the terms and language use.

No one wants to find out later, the insurance company denied there policy because there insurance company was not inform of any mods. I rather be on the safe side. Then regret it later.

All it takes is a phone call, a few minutes of your time.

 

If the lava flow to your truck and you have fire insurance on your truck. This could apply.
There are pictures of lava destroying cars, the lava flows onto the cars.
If your truck was park in the garage and the lava fire burn down the house, maybe the homeowner insurance could cover your losses

Tacoma world really is a friendly place? A place were we can agree and disagree, and have a civilized conversations?

 

Maybe don't live in a lava zone if you can't figure out how to read an insurance policy.

True, at least in your case you had the out of "well if you won't reimburse for the mod then let me remove it) as most of yours were not damaged.

A friend of mine learned this the hard way long ago after hyping up his sound system. His vehicle was broken into and robbed of the system, and because he hadn't listed it on the policy he was SOL.

I went and listed mine on my policy when I upgraded it long ago, had them take pictures of the items to insure they were in the vehicle as well as specifically secured via nut/bolt/screw and therefore a "permanent" part of the vehicle. If I left my amplifier unsecured for instance, it is possible I would be denied payment for that item.

This is in MA though, state to state may differ.

The only rider I have for my truck is for my tint (cheap rider), although my truck is basically stock otherwise. All small "mods" total about $1,000 so no point in insuring them all and most aren't "permanent".

I have all windows and sunroof tinted. I've used this coverage once so far without issue and it saved me over $400 already with a cracked windshield.

I live in Zone 4, on the side of Mount Hualalai ( third most active volcano on the Big Island.) My home is in zone 6 My son i lives in it now.

Living on my wife’s family coffee farm, time move more slowly on this farm. Our water catchment ( three wooden tanks got too old) force to get county water. , NO electric power here. Solar power rules here.

You will see wild pigs almost everyday near the roadside. You need a 4x4 to get home and on to the farm.Yet a huge Manson on one side, and the other side smaller homes.

I modify my truck mainly for fishing, and farm use. Keeping everything legal. I have own 4x4 since the 70’s. All were second hand and old, had no need to insure those 4x4’s ,all over 10 years old. Just collision.

Now that I need full coverage, I want to do it right. I am glad Geico was helpful. Learning about mods and insurance took me by surprise. I just wanted to share this.
