My understanding is that being a regional carrier pilot has been a hellish experience for years with very poor comp relative to cost of entry.

    Is that not your understanding?

I was taught since covid that if you are feeling underpaid, you start looking.
    And generally find better compensation.

If you aren’t actively looking at how much another company may value your skills, compared to your current company, you have no room to bitch.

I think you're off topic. This isn't about whether they're correctly compensated or not.

Suppose you're at a job. Any job. Your direct superior tells you for the duration of your employment that they value and appreciate your contributions, then one day they suddenly offer every new hire in your position 50% above what you're getting.

Do you think that might sour relationships with existing employees a bit?

What I'm getting at is that I'm not sure this strategy is going to work out for AA like they hope.

How does the meat taste? I do a lot of smoking...Ribs come out tasty? LOVE ribs...St Louis or Baby Back...I'm not picky. Especially if the baby backs are TOO fatty...lots of trimming to do.

You're not getting it. This is the last time I'm going to try:

Do you think American Airlines, specifically, is going to attract new pilots with this pay premium but perhaps simultaneously have relationship problems with existing pilots who will question how honest the company has been with them to date?

I am not the least bit interested in your other generalized thoughts about the world, compensation seeking, or employment strategies.

    Reminds me...
There's an instrument manufacturer here and one of their machines is featured on old money from the 1990's
and they're looking at it and saying "Yea, I think it was celebrating women's role in science or something"
and I say "yeah, she was bringing a coffee to the MAN running the machine..."
    LOLzzzzz
    Tee hee

Just described every job where salary increases don't match inflation. The longer you remain employed the bigger discount your employer gets for retaining you. Your ONLY option is to leave and then return. This is how it works in my field. If you want to make $$....

i would guess, like many other industries when industry wide wages go up due to competition, the existing employees will get their big pay bump, be resentful but satisfied for a while since they are immediately seeing more take home pay, then everyone eventually goes back to wondering why they arent making more. I would be skeptical if, in a "passion" driven job like a pilot, a 50% pay bump causes you to immediately say gtfo and go find a new job.

I agree on the scam part, but i see it as a simple supply and demand equation, with the benefit (to the employer) of massive supply being depressed wages.

Well guess what, you’re gonna get it.

nobody wants to hear about Heloc and your stupid retirement, but I have to read your boomer comments just like you have to read this millennial’s.

my fiancée is a nurse, so I was trying to give you another example of legit, the same fuckin thing you were discussing with Pilots.

How do you attract a full time nurse at $25/hr when we pay our travel nurses $52/hr?
It makes for some awkward break times when you run shit for half the salary of the idiots you’re babysitting.

but go on and tell us how you’ve figured it all out…

the travel nurse thing is a wild fluke of budget allocation during covid that surely has to end soon or there wont be any local working nurses because they will all just be travel nurses. I truly dont get how it is still happening, and how its being justified. But good for all the nurses right now taking advantage of it lol.
