No (with caveats) on the Decked system for same placement. The Decked "ammo can" that is the rear support blocks the back cubby/plug area. The OP put his plugs just above the cubby area, but that is still blocked by the Decked system. You would have to move the OPs setup higher up in the bed side. Decked instructions even recommend running a short extension from the plug before install if you have the rear 110 setup. My plan is to route wires into the Decked "ammo can" in the back passenger/right side. Then my 110v, 12v plug, USB, and voltmeter will be visible on the back surface of the ammo can. I will then make a kydex panel to cover the wires inside the can so much of the ammo can storage is till usable. I doubt I will ever have more items in back so will not likely do the fuse sub-panel. I still need to decide how to route the wires from under the bed into the Decked can. I will likely bring up and into the Tacomo cubby then just cross into the rear side of the ammo can. If you have better ideas..I am all ears!

Whemever you do this decinitely send pics, it sounds interesting. But to understand more of what you're doing, so basically in that ammo can you'll have the guts (fuse block, and such) withing the ammo can, then the ports on the taco itself, or wouldn't it just be easier to cut out the holes and screw the module onto the top of the lid of the ammo can.

Definitely interested in seeing how you did this. I just got an 06 where the Decked was put in without an extension plug so the outlet is inaccessible. Want to add more 12v outlets/USB etc...

Great write up! I have purchased some of the needed material. My question is this, in the ac world you switch the black (power positive) my reading and probably misreading is you switch the ground. Please elaborate.

Ok. I’m just getting into this and trying to catch up.

Can I run the positive and negative wires directly from the battery to my new 12v outlet in the bed of my truck?

It seems like I’d need at least one fuse in-line somewhere along the way.

    Thanks for your help!

Fuse as close to positive battery terminal. There is a factory ground on frame. Behind driver rear tire.

Ok. So I run a wire from the positive terminal to a 30 amp fuse. Then continue that wire directly to the positive on my 12v outlet. I run another wire from the negative battery terminal to the negative on my 12v outlet without a fuse. Then I ground them outlet with a third wire.

    Does that all sound right?

No. Positive run is correct. Negative you just need to ground at frame. Or run negative from battery to negative on plug. Not both. Don’t run your negative setup.

    Great. Thanks.

Which would be better? A 30amp in-line fuse like the OP used, or a 100amp (or 50amp) circuit breaker?

C67C3A71-70F1-4B0E-BD0A-B621F8F5969F.jpg I use a 60amp circuit breaker. Make sure your wire is sized correctly. I ran 4 gauge. Positive and negative. To my setup.

Ok. The OP used 10 gauge wire and a 30amp fuse. If I mimic your set up then I’ll run a positive 4 gauge wire to a 60amp circuit breaker then the outlet, a negative 4 gauge wire to the outlet, and no ground wire.

Now I just need to find where to enter the truck bed.

    Thanks!

My 4 gauge runs to fuse block in the bed. From there it’s broken down to power plugs and usb.

I like this setup and might do it for my 3rd gen for a 12v outlet as well as led light strips.

Have you had any issues with moisture getting into the setup in that location? I think it's exposed on the underside.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
The "2X6 bed boards" that are used at the indicator location is the only fault I can see. (for me)

Great write up! just move those damn displays! ;-)

I'm going to put my setup in that recessed area.....I have no plans on ever carrying sheetrock or plywood.......watch I'll bitch about it after I get it in!
....or maybe the cubby, not sure yet!
