I think that social media has proliferated our society so much that many people can't differentiate between commenting on something they disagree with and when they're talking to someone in person; The pandemic hasn't helped things...

Not to mention there is a way to comment on something in any setting without being abrasive and in someone's face

I can't believe that anyone who was born after the baby boom has that outdated "Buy American" mentality...

I used to at least with cars, though the other examples I was able to buy back then were always rotbuckets so there's that..plus the GM products I was most familiar with so I could do more work on them, which mattered on a college budget.

    Oooh interesting..sounds possible for sure

    I do remember that incident.

As for the Anthem, it doesn’t really matter to me what anyone does. I’ve always been one to not force my beliefs or feelings on others. Just as they shouldn’t force me to believe/feel as they do.

FWIW, I do stand for the anthem as well as the pledge to the flag.

99.9% of the time I do as well; This was an isolated incident. Unfortunately, it was the one time there was a dickhead who thought my business was his business...

    That’s how it works.

I completely understand where you are coming. I too have have fallen victim of false assumptions. 90% of the time it’s ignorance of the person. They have no knowledge of why someone did what ever they did, they just think you should do as they would.

Well, it doesn’t always work that way. We can’t do everything the same.

My place of employment is located on a culdesac in a commercial complex; If you are driving into the complex, the building where I work is the very last property on the left, with parking lots in the front and back. I always park in the back. As I was heading to make a left into my parking lot, an older guy in a beige 2005ish Mercury Grand Marquis was making a left out of the parking lot of the building on the right. He ran the stop sign, and I had to slam on the brakes; I beeped at him, and like so many other motorists I've encountered, he took this personally even though he was clearly in the wrong. It is warm today, so I have the A/C on and the windows up; He actually stopped his car and rolled down his window, wanting to have words. I didn't roll my window down and just drove past without making eye contact. What is wrong with people?!?!

And let's not forget the time roughly five years ago when I was running late for work and rolled a stop sign with a crosswalk directly in front of it; A pedestrian took offense to this and decided it would be a good idea to run into the crosswalk and punch the side of my truck. I did not see this asshole until he punched the side of my cab, and since I didn't actually hit him or even come close to hitting him, I tore him a new one and drove off without apologizing...

I've never had a gun pulled on me, but one of my friends road raged at the driver of a Camaro for cutting him off and got a Glock brandished at him...

This guy was jogging and thus minimally dressed, so I'm 99% sure he wasn't carrying, but I see your point; I don't carry a gun, but I came very close to pepper spraying the guy who was offended by me having an American flag on a Toyota at Carlisle last year...

One of the bouncers at Puck told me about a teenager who pulled a realistic BB pistol and shot at his Toyota Matrix because he beeped at him; The car still had dents in the door and he showed me...

Its kinda situational. It sounds like it was unintentional. Id say you werent paying attention which is ok. Its worse for the dude to get in your face about it. All he coulda said is, "hey national anthem is playing" . If he was a veteran it kinda makes all veterans look bad and an ass. Not to say Im not an asshole at times but theres a time and place for it

While its disrespectful to intentionally disrespect the flag or anthem. Theres also freedom of speech which us veterans served our duty for. Doesnt make it right but it makes it America.

I was at a sporting event and there were some Amish there, national anthem started and they sat there. I personally thought it was offensive. But its best to just mind my business and not cause a scene.

    :amen:

And funny you mention the Amish; The Buck is in the heart of Amish Country (Lancaster County, PA) and both Amish and Menonites frequent the events there. I've never paid enough attention to see whether or not they stand for the anthem.
