go to campsaver.com and sign up for their text/email deal to get 20% any item. Use it to buy your awning. That's how I did it to get a deal.

ah ok. I saw that offer but it said for any full price item and the awning already has a markdown on it. I'll for sure try anyway, thanks for the heads up

That wasn't the problem - the brackets are fine. The footings in my roof rack attaching it to the canopy came somewhat undone. Likely because the wind wobbling the awning for a while (unsupported) wiggled the screws in them out of position.

I also have the RSI Smartcap and planning on getting the OVS. Were you able to get those pics? Also if you don't mind getting pics of your mounting points on the load bars. I have the front runner load bars and would only use 2 if it supports it well enough. Also was thinking of flipping the mounting brackets upside down so it sits lower (so that it would clear my ikamper shell while opened without shoving the awning way out). but not sure if it sits too low where I can't open the rear cab door. Any pics would help! Thank you!

    Sorry, forgot to get pics.

I have mine so that the OVS sits as high as possible on just the two RSI mounting bars. No issues so far with just using two mounting points. I can open the windoor enough to get into the back but it's relatively tight. If you mount the OVS low you're going to have very little room to open the windoor at all.

I'm actually thinking about adding some spacers to get the awning up higher so I can access the side better.

Is there a way to mount this awning further forward so it covers the tailgate area more? When I open the rear door on my camper shell, water tends to drip onto my mattress where the door hinges. I'm hoping I could cover some of this area with the awning. Thanks for the help.

Depending on the rack you have it attached to you should be able to move it as far forward as you need.

    None yet.
I’m super tardy to the party, but can you elaborate on how you attached your mounting brackets to the UpTop rack? I’m having a helluva time. I feel like it’s much easier than I’m making it out to be.

Anyone willing to give me the dimensions of the arms and the tubing they are welded to? The length of the tubes and maybe even some close up pics of the pivot area of the arms?? It would be much appreciated. Starting to TIG weld and this seems like a good place to start.

This has been a great read. If anyone out there has successfully mounted to a roof rack, not shell rack, could you post some pics? I’m running a Prinsu on the cab.

    IT NEVER ENDS..........
Only mount it to rear rack or front rack not not both. otherwise it will twist and bind mounting points over time. How has the OVS held up?

Thats what I ended up doing, worked great and I have had no issues with it yet whatsoever.

The way I travel I dont use it as much as some because many of my camps are single night when on trips. But when I needed it, it has come in super clutch. I love how fast I can deploy it. I hoped it would be this easy as one of the main functions I wanted it for was lunchtime shade when on the road. I can open this up and start using it in seconds. In this scenario I dont drop poles or anything, just whip it around and fasten the strap, which I keep ready in my side windoor of my camper shell, and viola..

Picked one of these up this spring and got it mounted up. Haven’t used it much yet, but it has proved handy while messing around with stuff on hot sunny days.

I ditched the annoying hook straps for some cam cleats and rope. Makes for super fast deployment and take down.

Does anyone have their OVS brackets laying around? I purchased the UpTop mounts and have been running them for a while now, but they are not able to withstand the load of the 270 awning (especially when i open it)20220719_164438.jpg 20220719_164505.jpg . I ended up giving mine away at one of the SPI beach runs. If anyone has an extra set, please let me know, thanks!

If you can't find anyone with them here's the cheapest I could find on the net to purchase a new set ($70).
