It saved my behind in NMW. It threw a light for a flat, we were bombing down FSRs so I would have gone a lot more on that before I noticed.

Left work Friday and when i started the truck heard this awful rattle... figured it was a heat shield. Couldn't take it anymore so got under tonight. Sure enough bolt falls out on driver side second cat heat shield. So I grab a bike some washers and a nut and fingers crossed stopped that. Part of the bolt is stuck in the other side so hopefully one is enough. The one on the otherside is missing and noticed the wires were getting hot. Anybody got a recommendation for heat wrap?

Also while I was under there I finally adjusted the mid skid and brought it up higher against the cross member. Woot woot

Double up the nut on the bolt to lock it on. You can't use a nylon lock nut because the nylon will obviously melt.

Looks even better now IMO, with the snorkel on.

Does anyone do, or know someplace that does aluminum anodizing on the cheap?
My paint/powdercoat on my aluminum Trac Racks is all flaking off and the aluminum is becoming corroded, powdery, and pitted underneath.
A dip to strip all the paint and anodize would make it last almost forever. But it would have to be pretty cheap, otherwise I'll just be wire brushing and spray painting this summer.

Let the fun begin...picked all this up from the blasters yesterday. Gotta get to it quick before it starts rusting again. I'm going to blow the dust off and acetone wipe everything, hit it all with a coat of rust converter to handle the little bits the blaster was unable to get, then etching primer and bedliner. That surface texture from the blasting should really help the paint stick this time.

It was fun while it lasted, but just sold the Cargo-Glide. It was neat, but more of a hassle than it was worth for me. Took up too much of the bed so I'm going to a sheet of plywood that I can slide on the bed mat and I'll mount the fork mounts to that. Sold it for what I paid so I can't complain.

It does. I just put an airraid on with the sky-clone top. Adapter from a TW member.

In preparation for the WarFab tomcat front bumper, started prepping it at my friends body shop yesterday. Still some sand blasting to do in the nooks.

After you paint them. Let them gass off for a few days. Then get some woolwax/fluid-film and coat every damn surface. Inside and out. Thick between where they meet up. Do it to the hardware or antiseize. So far mine have yet to lose paint.

Building a zen gate/arbor for this ancient grape vine.

There's a gravel path deeper in the garden that will be extended to here.

    IMG_20220614_094301.jpg
Vines lightly tied/woven in place to grow. Been training this vine (which was feral for decades) for a couple years to get it ready for this.

    IMG_20220614_131757.jpg IMG_20220614_142122.jpg IMG_20220614_144510.jpg
All freehand work. Using an old 2x12 from the shed for the roof.

    IMG_20220614_150054.jpg

One half of the roof done. You can see the other half on the ground next to the truck. I'll do the other half, assemble, then finish sand and stain the posts and roof before attaching it. Hopefully done by this weekend.

3-3.5 hours in half the roof and another couple in digging and setting the posts, probably something like 6 hours so far. If I get it done under 12 I'll beat my estimate.

Wish I could take credit for it! This is my buddy's place, his parents had that conservatory built back in the 90s. The plans/frame/glass all come from a company in England.

The bricks there are just a placeholder, I'm gonna do the threshold in field stone from the big pile out back by the original barn foundation - 1802 or 1803 IIRC.

I hope it comes in a plug in hybrid model. I’ve had enough of the Tacoma’s terrible gas mileage. I’ve been seeing a lot of Santa Cruz’s lately. I like the look and size. If they make a hybrid version it will be great. I’d prefer a Rivian over everything but just too damn expensive.
