As a general rule, I'm not into labeling people. I always try to judge people as individuals whenever possible. Occasionally that's not an option and I try and limit those times.

Our society as turned to divisive and intolerant of one another. ALL people have the right to be who and what they are without threat from whatever side doesn't agree with them. Leave people be, don't spread hate and don't push unsolicited agendas on others regardless of what your political/religious/ideological views are.

    That sums me up.

I really just wish everybody would get along; That's all I want, but thanks to social media and other factors, I know it will never happen.

    @Plain Jane Taco

And this still makes me angry; At the Carlisle Truck Nationals last August, another overweight redneck type was triggered by the presence of a prominent Raptor-style TOYOTA grille and an American flag vanity plate on the front of my truck and went on a racist, vulgar rant...

Because he was drunk, and believes in the outdated point of view that buying a Toyota is somehow unpatriotic...

I've never used a handicap placard, but within in a month of getting my driver's license I unknowingly parked in a carry poorly marked handicap spot and was angrily confronted by some random asshole; There were probably half a dozen witnesses and everyone took my side...

At Puck, we were forced to put handicapped parking signs in the manager's spots even though we rarely had handicapped customers and were effectively grandfathered in, because someone who wasn't even handicapped complained. My boss and I routinely used these spots out of business hours; One time while I was downstairs, my boss caught someone taking a picture of my license plate and demanded to know what he was doing; She was a lot nicer than I would have been if I'd witnessed it...

He went on this full Karen rant about the handicapped spots being taken by vehicles or displaying the proper credentials, and how he repeatedly reported the same tan Honda Element to parking enforcement for being in the handicapped spot. The joke was on him, because the Element was a company car used by my boss and registered to the owners of Puck, and the handicapped spots were on private property; The owners of Puck are very influential and donate to a lot of charities, so the Borough wasn't about ticket them for parking their own vehicle in a handicap spot on their own property. My boss explained this to the annoying interloper, and we never had a problem with parking our vehicles in the handicapped spots outside of business hours and for unloading, ever again...

We live in a global economy. It's not 1955 anymore. What's "American" and what's not was blurred decades ago. With that in mind....I'm pro-job. Any company willing to employ Americans is fine by me.

I have a BIL that used to start his flag waving over other family member's vehicle choices....picking on my FIL many years ago for buying a new Sienna. I informed him that the Sienna was assembled in Indiana with American hands, while his FORD focus was assembled in Mexico. He had no idea. I showed him the placard in the door jamb. He was flustered.

Having said that....there isn't anything wrong with that either. My Tacoma was assembled in Mexico. But the engine came from Alabama, the transmission from W.VA and a host of other components coming from Toyota's extensive parts suppliers in the southern U.S.

And my issue is not so much what he said, but that he had the balls to walk up to my truck and get all belligerent; Being drunk is no excuse, and he was just seconds away from getting blasted with pepper spray. The reason I'm involuntary on edge a lot of the time is because perfect strangers see the need to confront me and/or get in my business. Examples would be the guy who came up to me and lectured me about not wearing my mask properly at the Mission BBQ back in June 2020, the guy at Buck Motorsports Park who got in my face back in June 2021 for zoning out and unknowing leaning on a concrete wall during the national anthem, and this twatwaffle at the Carlisle Truck Nationals in August 2021 who was offended that I dared to display the American flag on an "import".

And let's not forget the day before 9/11 last year; I have a trailer hitch-mounted flagpole and a large American flag. 9/11 fell on a Friday last year, but it was the 20th anniversary so I mounted the flag on Thursday and kept it on the truck for the entire weekend.

I had just left for work on Thursday morning (September 10th, 2021) and was maybe a mile from my house; There was a little old lady a younger middle-aged man walking in the grass by the side of the road. I was nowhere near hitting them, but I steered to the left ever so slightly just to be safe; As I approached the duo, the little old lady flipped me off...

I should not have done this, but I had done literally nothing wrong and I was pissed; I made a U-turn, pulled over to the side of the road across from the old lady, and demanded to know why she flipped me off. She denied doing such a thing a told me to have a nice day; My dashcam footage proves she's full of shit and did indeed flip me off.

On Memorial Day this year I ran through town doing a 3 mile Ruck Run holding an American flag. I’ve never done a single moto thing since I got out of the Marines/Afghan in 2011. Never had any appeal to. My family gives me a hard time because I never stand up when they ask military to or ask for discounts or whatever. It’s just not my thing. I can’t even hang with most old vets, as much as I love and respect them. I’m just not the moto type. But this year we had even more men and a close relative commit suicide, all Marines, and the way everyone thinks everyone hates this country I decided screw it; I’m going moto.
I’d wave the flag high anytime people would honk, but I did get a lot of middle fingers and a kid even rolled coal in my face from his big diesel, all while it was pouring rain. Just felt like someone out there needed to know they’re appreciated as a vet still :(

Originally a thread called Buy my uncle's 2017 and sell my 2010; What does everybody think?...

My uncle has a black 2017 AC TRD Sport 2WD with 39K miles that he bought used in 2019; The truck is currently lowered, which I don't like, but my uncle says he will return the truck to stock height if I end up buying it. The truck has spent its whole life in South Carolina and has a clean title; There is nothing wrong with it mechanically, though my uncle smokes (He says he will deep clean the interior before I take delivery as well). My current truck is a 2010 RC 5-lug auto with 152K miles and a brand new frame; It has also had intermittent wipers, cruise control, a backup camera, and a really nice stereo system installed.

My uncle is ordering himself a new Ford Maverick in August of this year, which is expected to arrive in early 2023, so I have time; I love my truck, and the only reason I am even considering my uncle's truck is because he is just as OCD about maintenance as I am and he is giving me a discount. Blue Book on his truck is like $32K, and he offered it to me for $30K. The sale would include the collapsible BesTop, and as stated above he would return the suspension to stock height.

There is nothing wrong with my truck mechanically, and the replacement of the frame last November played a significant role in my decision to hold onto it for now. I am really tempted, but while my credit is good I would probably opt to get help from my parents rather than take out a loan on a used vehicle in today's market. I figured I could get about $12K for my current truck, and that would be a downpayment on my uncle's truck if choose to buy it.

    What does everybody think?

Here are some pictures of my uncle's truck from September 2019, when he drove up from South Carolina to help us redo the garage; This was before he lowered it, but it otherwise has not changed much...

A convenient picture of my truck and his truck together; My truck has since been lifted 2 inches and fitted with a bull bar, but otherwise does not look much different...

I understand you're asking for opinions and that's what you'll get. Only you can decide what is the appropriate financial decision.

For the most part 3rd gen owners will say buy and 2nd gen owners say keep what you have.

As far as smoking.. I'm not sure there's any way to get that stench out of the interior including the ac system.
