Toyota should've been paying attention to forced induction offerings for the last 5+ years if you ask me.

12 years of Pennsylvania winters and all my truck had to show for it was a quarter-sized hole in the right frame rail next to the catalytic converter; My truck passed the annual state safety inspection prior to the dealership discovering the perforation, and Toyota approved a frame replacement, so I'm happy in that respect!

I don't trust the small-displacement turbocharged engines; They are powerful and efficient, but I get the feeling that they are overworked and this shortens their service life...

Hard pass, 2wd truck is useless for you with the pa winters. My father in laws 17 sport has more rust from being parked outside at little river then any truck I’ve seen when we lived in pa. You couldn’t pay me to buy a used truck from the coast.

I am happy to report that my mechanic tested the voltage this morning and found nothing abnormal; He believes that the blackened connector is the result of a short in the blower motor that was addressed a year or so ago, and that there is no danger of it failing, so I'm no going to worry about it right now.

I've been doing just fine with a 2WD truck in PA for 12 years, but I would certainly prefer to have 4WD in my next vehicle; If I have to drive in particularly bad snow, I borrow my mom's Nissan Murano, which has AWD.

Time will tell. Personally I'd like the grunt to navigate up a slight grade in my truck without asking the engine to run at 60% redline which sure as heck isn't underworking it.

That’s a strong no, it cannot compete with the Tacoma on any level as a truck.

If it hadn’t been smoked in, I’d consider it.

I’d probably just keep yours and ride it out for a couple years and see what new things come out and what happens to the used market.

IMO they should have been focused on bringing an all electric truck to the market / electrifying. F150 out here getting 68 MPGe with a 4.4 0-60 and 7700 lb towing capacity...

All electric is clearly the future, not plug in hybrids that get 22 mpg and forced induction motors that aren't reliable long term. Gas isn't going to get cheaper over time....

Yeah, the deal he is offering @PennSilverTaco seems like the story you tell to a random Craigslist buyer, not kin you like. It would be a deal if discounted from his purchase price but selling it for more than he paid after 3+ years of ownership with the smoking and modifications would make me doubt his motives
