@j-utah - what year is your ride and where did you find the bracket you installed everything on? That is slick!

Nevermind, I see the taco tunes is the place to go. I have my radar detector/ jammer stuff under the passenger seat and it is a mess. This will be perfect to add everything to something 'floating'!

Ya, it’s not inexpensive, but it was worth it for me. I had sooo much to do, I didn’t want to make one. Plus it’s suspended over the carpet, which allows wires to run under it. When I bought it, the price was around $80, now I think it’s $110. I really liked using it.

I hope the OP is OK. It’s 90 here and I can’t imagine coping in AZ right now.

It's not bad today only 106 and I've got a nice pool to swim in. I'm planning a trip to the local aquarium and then out to lunch tomorrow with some family. I'm still researching lake front and nearby lake real estate very seriously.

Crutchfield has updated shipping info and the JL Stealthbox should be here Thursday (tomorrow).

The pioneer dmh-wc6600nex is in stock at creative audio and on creative audio's Amazon page with a 10% off coupon. ($1077+tax) It's tempting, but I'd still need to source the install components elsewhere. The apple CarPlay issue reviews are holding me back; possibly considering other brands. :notsure:

My KENWOOD Excelon DMX906S has been rock solid on Apple CarPlay for the 3 years I’ve had it. Had one update a couple years ago that messed things up, and it was fixed in a week.

I do recall in the threads that some folks had problems with carplay in the 6600, although it’s been a while since I looked at those threads. The 6600 does have some quirks and the main one was the getting the updates to work and also syncing with the phone app that allows you to add custom wallpaper. That drove me crazy trying to make that work. The stinger looks interesting, and yep I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Kenwood. I don’t know if there are known issues with either of those. I’ve had no problems with carplay in the pioneer but some people have I think. One thing with my pioneer is that the tire pressure display on the HU is reversed. I have a slow leak in my back left tire, and it shows up on the unit as my front driver tire! Oh well!

Are these plug and play? What adapters would I need?

I've had no issues with CarPlay(wired or wireless) with my 6600 so far. It connects immediately and stays connected unless I disconnect it.

Edit: BTW, I did have a tough time getting firmware updated with CarAVAssist, but did get it to update eventually.

You can adjust where the tires are on the display with the 6600, I read that in a forum somewhere.

My understanding is that you order the radio and the toyota canbus harness from them and it's plug n play. But you spend way more time tinkering with settings to get them working right :annoyed: before you realize that there were two plugs that you forgot to connect... or something like that.

This is true. Even when you get the correct harness and additional plugs it take a bit to figure out what goes where. If you are inept with electronics don't bother. Pay someone to do it for you.

Got back from the Aquarium and I'm still waiting on UPS. :tumbleweed:
A BestBuy nearby has the 4660nex on display, so I'm going to check it out later tonight or tomorrow. I think the features are more or less the same as the dmh-wc6600nex just different screen sizes and pricing isn't much different to go with the 9" screen. Crutchfield has all the install accessories in stock for the 6600 too.

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the Stealthbox or send it back and do something custom. I kind of prefer the sound of ported sub boxes over sealed. The stereo shop I went to the other day had an alpine head unit with an audio control lc-4.800 or d-4.800 connected to some Sony components and a rockford p300-8 sub. It sounded pretty darn good, but I think a lot of that was the amp and head unit.

    112 today! :bananadead:

Every time a box shows up he thinks it's full of treats and toys. :D The Chewy box was, but this ones for me. Interesting packing method by JL. Stealthbox was inside a bag of its own and then sandwiched between bag/pad layers. Then this foam was sprayed over the top and the box taped shut. It definitely smells like a boat (fiberglass, carpet and glue).

Since my trucks interior was at least 150-200 degrees the plastic lip in the tub cut like a hot knife through butter with a fresh razor blade. Sub is bolted in for test fit. The last bracket gave me a bit of fuss getting the holes to line up, but it's in and it's very snug. I wish the speaker terminals were spring loaded for this price, but whatever.

Overall I really like it and I can't wait to hear how it sounds. Wondering if I should have done 2 10"s instead. :notsure:

I bought 16 awg wire, but should have opted for 12 awg according to the instructions. I'll see what BestBuy has tomorrow. It's too hot to do anymore today.

Thats an expensive sub. I bet your gonna need to spend some more money to get what you want in the long run with that whole system. Buy once, cry once.
