Best free camping near-ish SP headquarters? By near, i mean like a 2 hour drive. I dont think ill make my actual destination at a decent time, 5 hours north in The Cascades.

 

check the ioverland app - there's national forest up near St Helens that might work for you.

 

I drove west on 26 to the 6 into Tillamook State Forest. Once I was in the forest there were several, should say MANY, side roads, dirt roads, that led up the rather steep hills, and there were many pullouts along these roads. Clearly people had been camping in these spots. I just chose the nicest one I could find. I had to go back to Portland the next day to have SP adjust something, so it was relatively convenient for that.

ALSO, I tell everyone who's getting their SP installed, I didn't realize that the ExPed needed to self-inflate for several hours before first use. I recommend pulling it down from the bed area and opening both ports and letting it self-inflate in the lower area while you're driving to your first night spot. Not a big deal, but I like to follow instructions like this. I believe it's extremely deflated before first use, and the foam cells inside need a chance to stretch out. IMHO.

 

Truth about the Expeds! I recently took a part-time job at REI and that's one of the first things I tell people about using them. They think it's defective and worst-case scenario, they've waited until out in the middle of nowhere, tired and just want some comfortable sleep after spending an arm-and-leg on 'the best inflatable mattress'.

 

Check up in Western edge Gifford Pinchot NF lots and lots in the area within 2 hours of SP.

 

Made a portable water system. Battery powered pump from Amazon. Tubing and a 7 gallon aguatainer. Just press the button on top and it pulls water no problem. All for @ $35.

wow i was gonna do the same thing! How did you mount the pump and what tubing did you use?

 

Just heavy duty Velcro. I don’t think it will hold up for any off roaming or serious washboard roads. I wanted to be able to take the pump off to recharge it easily. We will see how it works out. It’s nice to just open the tailgate and fill a water bottle etc. the tubing is vinyl tubing from a hardware store. I think it was 3/8ths but I don’t recall for certain. It was only 30 cents a foot. With mountain biking/ running the dog/ hiking/beach etc it’s really handy to have an easy water source. And way cheaper than Dometic set up. It has a great flow rate by the way.

 

Super Pacific build spot for sale. My deposit was placed on 3/1/2022 - DM me if you'd like to jump in line. I'm just looking to get the $500 back. (you'll also have to pay a $75 deposit trxfr fee to SP). Wishing I could go forward with the build, but can't make it happen. Hoping someone else can!

That is odd that they haven't started your build yet. I paid on May 5th and the build is already starting. Maybe they just had the Tundra "pieces" in stock bc they are not as popular as the Taco version?

 

When I picked mine up May 31 They were trying to get their production up to 40 units a week!

 

I bought the build spot from Go-West. Also wondering about that 40 units per week they told you. Maybe long term hope, but hope I'm wrong. They just moved into a much larger facility so maybe able to speed up production a bit. For whatever reason (maybe because they didn't have a confirmed build or have specific models per run? - GW had a different truck) but the slot won't be in a production run until next week or the week after.
I was told multiple times 12-14weeks from start date. May be model specific on how they do parts but rep said they don't start getting parts in line until they have a "for sure" about an order if I understood correctly. Then it's waiting on the outside vendors to get the parts to them. They put them together, no in house parts production like GF.


(6-24-22). Talked to rep to confirm my transfer and when asking about build line up he said they build them as the orders come in, so different versions could be in a production run. Maybe that will help decrease times since you wouldn't be waiting on the Tacoma run or Gladiator run etc.

Zero clue. Picking up the camper today.

MY plan, is to run the cold air into the sleeping bag. I also have 2 fans that can run all at the same time.
