Absolutely. It might be unverifiable, but I can usually gauge if its legit or not based on a brief talk with the owner. And it is a million times better than an owner not having any records of any kind. An excel document alone might not be much, but when you talk to an owner and ask the right questions, you can usually tell if they actually care about their car or not.

Do it myself. Blast some tunes, 1-2 beers in and the job is done, at my own pace, ensuring every drop of oil is cleaned, anything I can reach is checked for security, tires rotated ect. its a nice break from this fucked up world we live in. In a couple years have my kids learning too.

After having two separate oil change places screw up such a simple job as an oil change, I decided to never let them touch any of my cars again. If I didn't do it myself, I would trust the dealer more than a Jiffy Lube type place.

Going to be at home for my next oil change....appears easy enough. Just get the right tools.

Have the dealership do the changes especially if they have service coupons. Going to any of those chain quick lube places is like playing Russian roulette, its not if but when you will encounter an issue with their work or lack thereof.

Not that dealerships have the best oil change workers out there, who also screw up at times, but at least you have the dealership & T-M-C to seek compensation from. Those quick lube places all have full time lawyers that handle & deny any claims made against them.

I do mine at home where I know it won’t get messed up by some noob wrench turner distracted on their tiktok.

When I was 18 I had a Nissan that I brought to a Valvoline for a basic oil change. I’d like to purge that entire memory from my brain.

I started doing mine myself every since I went in for oil changes and tire rotations led to my old truck having 2 out of 5 lugs left after they stripped my studs. Don’t trust anywhere lol

Do it yourself. It’s a truck, you don’t even need a jack or a lift to get under it.

Any info on part number for the oil filter and where you guys are finding them for a good price? Whats the recommended oil for these trucks in hot weather like Arizona? It's time I start doing my own again.

    I prefer doing it myself.

When I am just lazy and just got my pretty nails done :D, I go to the Valvoline Instant Oil Change spots where you sit in the car while they change it for you.

Normally very little upsell hassle at those spots.

I had the dealer do my first two under the free service. The next one I will do myself, haven’t done my own in years but retiring soon and my Tacoma is one of my hobbies lol. Will save receipts for proof for warranty.
Plan on using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20 and a Toyota filter based on some research and oil testing by Project Farm on youtube.

Also bought a floor jack, top of the line jack stands, HF torque wrench for tire rotations.
Don’t trust dealer or others as much as I trust me.

My oil changes are performed by the dealer for $64 with a coupon every 10K miles (about every four months for me).

No issues with dealer oil changes during the past thirty years.

The dealer does mine, I get it done once a year so the cost and hour wait really doesn’t bother me.

I let Flow Toyota of Statesville do my oil changes. I can do it myself but tbh its a new truck so I just let them do it. I've never had a problem with the dealership

    A bunch..and no build thread!
My driveway. Same place I did my lift, bumpers, lockers, sliders, armor and everything else that has been done to my truck.

I cannot pay someone to do something I can easily do myself.
