My neighborhood mom and pop service station. Used to do all my own but with age and I can afford it why not pay to get it done. These guys are trustworthy as they have downloaded the Toyota service schedules that shows exactly that is required at every oil change. Even check the floor mats lol

My family has a pretty good rapport with the guy in charge of the local Express oil and tire engineers and I’ve never had a problem with what they’ve done. Recently I took it to tire outlet and had them change it though because I was getting tires mounted and aligned and I didn’t want to make 2 trips and they did good as well.

I am getting up there in age too, but still like to do my own maintenance. But when it comes time to hang up the tools for good, finding a local trusted indie shop is what I will try to do too. They are still out there as Nirango kid has demonstrated. Those Jiffy Lube places make me nervous!

If it needs a tire rotation, a local shop run by a friend of a friend. If it doesn't need tire rotation, my driveway.

In my garage or at work. Usually at work and dump the used oil right there.

I wouldn't have any problem with the dealer here either, but its a 54 mile round trip, and not even close to $64. Its easier to just do it myself, and dispose of the old oil at our towns recycling barn thats close by.

FYI, for those worried about service records, Toyota has a wonderful website for reporting and keeping records.

I bet I've done over 150 oil changes in the last 40 years. Cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, boats, lawn equipment, generators, etc. Can't imagine paying someone to do all that work. Plus they wouldn't pre-fill the filter and that is a big requirement for me.

I don't know that many people who own Toyotas, but of that small number I know 2 who had shops crack the oil filter housing when trying to remove it, due to over tightening. One had to wait about 4 hrs until the shop boy could go pickup a replacement at the closest dealership with one in stock (70 miles away). The other had no car for a day and a half. No thanks, I'll do it myself.

My oil changes will be done at the Auto Hobby Shop on Dover Air Force Base after the 2-year Toyota Care is complete.

    $6/hr stall use

As a matter of fact, I may skip the next oil change because I'm installing the Fumoto Valve and don't want to explain how to complete it my way...using my draining plugs & funnel.

I may let the Dealership rotate the tires but even then, they'll probably ask to use my OEM locking lug key.

Well I’m grateful for this thread and all the input. I have one service interval left that will be covered by my two free years from Toyota. I’m debating if I’m even going to go back to the dealership for that last one.

I really want to keep a truck that’s maintained by one dealership and has perfectly maintained service records. Unfortunately I’ve already caught the dealership lying about rotating my tires. Found an absolutely filthy cabin air filter the day after my 15,000 mile service and they also took my tire valve caps and never replaced them lol

Unfortunately due to how much I work, I simply don’t have time to do the maintenance myself for the near future. I barely have time to cut my grass.

I’m pretty concerned that if I keep going back to the dealership they will mess something up worse than just lying about a tire rotation. I have a trustworthy local shop that I’ve used for previous vehicles and my wife’s car, I think it might be time to introduce them to my baby.

Every vehicle I own I mark the rims so I know if the wheels were actually rotated. Usually its just a painted white dot on one wheel, each side...and prior to the work I make sure I know where the dots are (front or rear). That way, when the work is completed I look to see the results...prior to leaving.

I do all my own on all my vehicles but the Tacoma goes to the dealership.

Only reason is because my father in law works there so I get a huge discount. Plus the record of the work at the dealership is nice.
