As teenagers we used to buy baffed out volvos, skodas and VW's for a couple hundred bucks then take them upto to the clay pits.

Volvo's and Skodas were tough to kill, generally the engine was still somewhat working but no chance of moving the car.

The air cooled skodas, only time we ever killed the engine in one of those is when the engine compartment was so full of mud it basically baked into a brick.

Those are some of the few cars that could still drive away from a total loss accident.

Lol we drove a lada off of a 15-20' cliff by accident (hidden by bush) glanced off a tree in mid air that got it to spin around axially,

    Fortunately...

There was this big boulder that stopped our forward momentum cold,

    before we hit the ground.

We would have landed on all four wheels...

Except the car was bent in this V shape and the back of the drivetrain was pushed out the bottom and also into the dash.

Front end and Rad was obliterated,

and so would have been us if we were not wearing seatbelts and helmets lol. Looked like I had road rash on my neck and shoulder from the seatbelt.

Steam and smoke everywhere and we are all stunned trying to crawl out side windows that are much smaller now.

    Engine was still running though.
    Not well,
    but running.

Made a mental note to ourselves not to follow that trail again!
And off we went looking for junk and free cars in the triad again.
