:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Wife gave me a scare last night - "Freezer must be broken, because I didn't leave the door open!" Well, I hadn't been in it. But she did get some fish in the afternoon. "Do you have a thermometer?" I did, put it in, and it was back at 20* in an hour, and 0* this morning. But now I will have to leave the door open - and defrost it. :sadviolin: There's a putz for the list. And some more of that putz will take care of the day.

New "true wildlife adventure" around here - for the first time in twenty years we are being visited by "Colorado River Toads". They have a neurotoxin defense system that is a serious problem to people and dogs alike. Three in the last week....... They have never come out of the wash before and we are in a serious drought (even for a desert). So far have managed to corral the rascals and box them for removal - before the dogs got to them. They are bigger than I expected! As a kid in Missouri we would find toads - but only little forest guys. These are substantial critters - and can take off like a bullfrog when alarmed.......

Don't have my own pic but down loaded this one.........
    colorado river toad.jpg

Usually pretty busy when I find one - got to keep the dogs away!
Apparently there is some faction in California that likes to collect the toxin - and smoke it!!!!

Two of the three I apprehended so far were a bit bigger than this one!!!

Years ago we had one in the yard that we fed. We would catch insects and toss them to him (it?). He caught every one until they started escaping when he opened his mouth for another. Then he quit accepting more.

When I was a kid, my great uncle would take me frogging on Bethel Island. A forked pole, a flashlight, and a gunnysack were required, hip boots advised. Damn hip boots miles too big for me, after slogging through the black slime, I'd have to strip off my sneakers and levis and jump in Taylor slough to wash. Haven't thought of those memories in so many years!
I remember I wanted to pet a cow once (on Bethel Island). The big fella with the horns snorted once and trotted toward me. I caught on real quick to what his intentions were, and still sport the scars on my hands from my mad flight over the barb wire fence.
Haven't been back to Bethel Island in so many years, I know I wouldn't recognize it today.

I chose SF Giants colors. I had to wait for the swelling to go down to get the cast put on.

I read through all the back pain you guys and your ladies have had. It makes me glad I have just recently had minor lower back issues.

I’ll take it more seriously than I was!

THX for reminting me to put this on my weekend To-Do list.

Sorry for the fall. Get well quickly. When I had my cataracts removed the surgeon also fixed a stigmatism in both eyes. Stigmatism in the eye affects footing and falling when walking.

Busy day today, Judges training for the upcoming election in the AM and in the PM, I meet with my doctor to go over the Upper GI test that I had performed two weeks ago.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Gals! Well, she probably left the door open, and I needed to defrost anyway, but, that seems to have uncovered the fact that it's a dying freezer. Hit that zero once, then stayed 20*, then around 10*, then 20* - so, it's struggling and I just ordered a new one to go get today.
:spending: Better than losing all the stuff in a surprise I suppose.
So, I'm on the lap top in the sunroom, ordering away, and the lights start changing levels. First thought it was the little surge of the AC turning on, then it kept getting worse.
:annoyed: I turned them off, and used a floor lamp to order a new dimmer, and am going to finally swap these halogen GU12's out for the LED version. I was waiting for a lamp to burn out, but they never have. So, instead of dimming 450 W, I'll be dimming 45W. And save the old bulbs for the bedroom, where they are seldom on.
Not the putz plan I had for the day.....but hey, we didn't break 100*. And the streak starts again today.

    Morning all:

Sure glad I'm out of the market for the most part, but starting to  over getting back in!
The old adage of "buy low, sell high" is the standard, but wondering how low this market will go, I think it's got a way to go before it tanks, but what do I know!
Any thoughts from those who are wiser than me who dabble in the market as for whatcha think, maybe ease in and dollar average if the price drops, I've done that before and came out OK.
Also thinking, don't even touch it with a 10 foot pole until the dust settles, which may take a while! :notsure:

I've been waiting for this to happen. Wait for the bottom and buy in... and glad I'm not heavily invested now. If I was invested now I'd be selling before the big slide.

I'm too freakin' busy these days to follow the market too closely so I'm just buying, I buy on the ups, I buy on the downs, and I buy on the flats. Year to date I've been crushed, however, I've also picked up a lot of stuff at lower prices than I otherwise would have, and when the market bounces back I should be in pretty good shape..., I hope. :fingerscrossed:

I guess we all know that the market will bounce back Dale, the 64-million-dollar question is now how low can it go, with what's all that's going on it could still have a big slide as Travlr mentioned, I've also been waiting for this to happen. Guess, like you, it's time to start dabbling and :fingerscrossed: that it doesn't go into a freefall.

We are WAY overdue for a significant market correction... and now face a probable recession. The market is being manipulated artificially now that computer algorithms are being used to determine best times to sell/buy rather than how to value stocks, so it will be interesting to see if there is a deep slide or a smaller dip. But in the past a deep slide would have been the natural evolution of the factors involved.
One of the upsides in a true crash is opportunity. But of course a lot of people will be hurt badly because they won't take advantage of the opportunities and will just ride it out.
