Ding, ding, ding............. glad to see someone get that jumping to conclusions is pointless as there are always other possibilities.

I’m the same way, I checked the oil in my new 2022 soon as I picked it up and it was about 1/2 qt over full. I also check oil level about every 2 tanks of gas, while the truck is filling up. Old habits…

You want to check your oil so it reads between the marks when cold.

Pulling the dipstick should never suck oil up the tube, otherwise no matter what you could never get a good reading..hot or cold. Granted, due to prior engine rotation oil is going to have splashed and worked its way up the tube and onto the dipstick. That's why you must wipe the stick off before any reading. But you should not have to wait to get a reading. One side of the stick will have a good reading...the other side probably won't due to it rubbing on the oiled tube. My Highlander has the same engine. It would be better if the tubes had a larger diameter...that would help.

After 100’s of times checking my oil, I know what I know. Maybe the 2017s have a different dipstick. They were personally assembled by the Sweers team, so maybe the hand fitting is the issue.
