I pushed the "eject" button and opted out of the safety connect, ensure, and safety connect and am wondering what i lost besides the tracking and reporting these services do. I know that i lost the push for help button, but what else have i lost. My navigation the the iphone and push to talk to Siri still works. What has changed?

You mainly killed any cellular-type connection in the Taco itself. Like you saw, your phone (Entune) connection still works.

I think the most noticeable thing might be that you cannot remote start when you are out of range of the key fob.

My truck has key, so no remote start anyways.

How do you do this? Did you have to go to a dealer or could you do it from home? I also want to opt out of every cellular connection feature

You have 3 types of paid subscriptions in the toyota app.
    1. Wifi connect - pretty self explanatory.
    2. Safety connect - emergency assistance button, roadside assistance, automatic collission notification, & stolen car notification (there could be more safety related notications that I didn’t mention). Since you opted out of this service, well, the difference is you will no longer have access to services above through toyota. I opted out of this one as well.
    3. Remote connect - Allows you to remote start your car anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connection, as well as lock and unlock your doors. Also works with my apple watch. I kept this service. Worth it for me.

The only problem there, and it is very tin foil hat, but you don't know which one that they use to transmit driving data. That Safety Score BS. Heck, they might be able to transmit on any of them. :D

Also there is post about going to Toyota website and requesting to opt out of them selling your data.

I don't know anything about this stuff. I know my 2020 sr5 has the emergency button but. I never signed up for any of the services I never acknowledged any of the trials except the XM radio which I transferred a paid subscription form my old vehicle to the the truck.
I ignored all the messages and emails about activation and renewal of safety and wifi plans. From my point of view I opted out by default.
I'm not sure what they can collect on me that Google isn't already collecting when I have my phone along with me.

That is not how Opting data access works in our world. You are most certainly still transmitting data back to the hive. Check your owners manual.

    :rofl::rofl:

Actuarial stuff is basically true, but with the Taco, I've slowed down a lot and have had a lot less LEO interactions. I keep wanting to try one of those OBD dongles to save on insurance, but I know that cornering and braking would break the bank.

Yeah probably am sending something back to the mother ship. I suppose I should look up how to opt out properly but ignorance is sometimes bliss. They aren't asking me to write a review of every place I visited 2 days after I been there like Google. Big Brother is watching all the time. Everywhere you go, every website and every item you look at online you'll see an ad for later.

I tried one of those years back when I had progressive. I drove like a grandpa for 2 months. Still got told sometimes I break too hard and it also said driving between 1 am and 5am was negative. I did still get a discount. The only reason I accepted it was because they allowed you to see the data they were collecting.

    I agree on all points.

I used to be a heavy duty foil hat person until I got a smartphone about 15yrs ago. Now, I am pretty much not concerned until if affects me financially. This is partly why I jumped on a 2017 since I didn't want the TSS-P stuff. It was too new at the time. Connected Services in a vehicle never made sense to me from the birth of OnStar.
