M-71-76-10-134 is the PN for the stud.

It's sort of a generic PN though.

Truck might be a little happier now.. lol was doing some maintenance and checked the original Airflow snorkel tubing and it cracked as soon as I touched it.. then just started crumbling apart in place.

let me see if thats good enough. I have 2 Ti vendors I use so maybe one of them will play.

 

I'm no material scientist or anything, but from what I know of Ti, it is very hard, but springy and somewhat flexible. A Ti bike frame for example is way more comfortable and forgiving and flexy than a chromoly or aluminum bike frame. Also, I haven't heard much about true high strength bolts being made of Ti. Like ARP custom-age or ARP 2000, and the exotic bolts with papers and heritage of metallurgy are not Ti to my knowledge. For example I don't think that the rod bolts in top fuel (or any seriously strained bolt in motorsports) is Ti. Makes me wonder if Ti would be a useful stud in this application.

Can you correct me, or add to the knowledge pool about Ti, and give us your perspective? I know it is way lighter, and that has benefits in racing and other places for non mission critical bolts... just looking for added info on the extreme end of high strength fatigue resistant hardware...

 

I would be worried about the heat cycling of the Titanium bolts/studs. Ti in a normal state with no extremes will always be better than aluminum in a bike frame. But Chromoly will take a lot of abrasion vs Aluminum and Ti. But what hardware are we talking about replacing? Just the IC lid hardware? I still believe we need studs for the nose of SCer instead of bolts.

But I'm a nobody, I just used to maintain airplanes.

 

Talking about the huge stud that holds the idler pulley for the main belt and the blower belt near the crank pulley. It is highly leveraged and a few have broken.

 

Yep, and it's always the lowest one for some reason. The top ones have never been the problem.

That lower one must see a lot of stress. More than any of us can imagine.

I wonder how this one does compared to the Mishimoto.

I may try that Motorad. The price is appealing. About $25 cheaper than the Mishimoto that I have.
