Does the 2" leveling kit STILL cause the vibration in the newer 3rd Gens?

What is the stock tire size on the SR. Is 265/75/16 just one size bigger?

I believe your in a 245/70/16, but I could be wrong! Tad wider and a bit taller, but a lot nicer looking.

OK, folks. I just found (in the past 30 minutes) a dealer with a white SR being built next week, signed the purchase order(for msrp), and put $2000 down. I can't freakin' wait....

By my casual observation, there are a lot more reports of people installing the ECGS bushing than those reporting a vibration that could be proved to be fixed by the ECGS bushing. I never installed it and never had any vibrations. My kit from headstrong did not include one. YMMV.

I’m on stock needle bearings and have 2” lift. Had to do a shim for the rear axle to get rid of vibes.

How do you like the softopper? I put a new ARE on my Ram 2500 and figured to do the same on the Tacoma. But the ARE is gonna be $2500...vs the softopper a LOT less. Just curious.

Used to have a 2" spacer lift on my 2nd gen for 14 1/2 years. Other than a crappy ride i never had vibs... wonder if having differential drop spacers had something to do with it?

After reading the many stories of bad vibrations, no one wants any annoying problems. There is always a cost.
Staying within a budget is important. But doing it right the first time, even if you had to put out more dollars. Is
sure is better then any cures.

The prices of “spacers lifts” very appealing. Not for me. Please if your are considering a lift, talk to as many 4x4 shops and dealers. and the Tacoma world owners for there thoughts and experiences.

The price of this can be can be cheaper then the headaches of getting the wrong lifts for you.

I had to save for two years, and I search and search ,staying within a reasonable and reliable lifts that will fit my needs for the places I go to.

Sure the Foxes, Icons and Kings are consider the top of the line. But at least I can eat three meals a day. Well at least two meals for sure. Feed the chickens. And keep the wife happier. too.

The “wants and needs”. There is a lot of stuff we “want” , but we “need” to take care our selfs and family first.

I wanted bigger tires, but my friend said “ better buy the truck first.”

its awesome. got it for my pup, but also like the look of it. keeps everything i'll ever have back there dry enough. it really only gets water in it when it sits in heavy down pour. If i used more sealer and a little work i could probably make it more water tight. i think i could keep 100% of water out. the best part about it is like $850 shipped, it comes off in less than 3 minutes. probably about 5 to throw up if you keep the rails attached on the truck. old pic but you can see some water dripping under my mat, it drips through the sewed in straps, also while driving comes up through holes in the bed. they say cold will crack your windows, but i've avoided that so far.

An ECGS Bushing would prevent that in the first place or it would get rid of any kind of vibes if you're having any. I would assume toyota is still using the same needle bearing but others may be able to chime in.

Doing the one on my truck as soon as it comes in.

I will say they literally charged an arm and a leg though

Also, if anyone needs the ECGS tool I would be happy to ship it to when I get mine and am done with it, with no charge to you except shipping.

Many times it can be cheaper finding a use camper top. Maybe Craigslist? All my 4x4’s I got use camper tops. Often less then $500. My 1999 Ford ranger I paid $500 for use camper top that came off a Toyota pick up, was fairly new too. Actually I got two for my Ranger the first one was a aluminum top $100. (My son left the rear window open and back into a tree)
My 86 Dodge 8 foot bed, got a use fiberglass camper $300.

Have done that before. And costs about $5-600 for my body shop to paint them. But the ones I am seeing for sale now are like $1800 plus. by the time I paint them, may as well buy new.
Plus I kinda want the mid-height model. It's the ARE 180 model.

It seems very unlikely to me that the brand of coil over or spacer could be correlated to differential needle bearing issues. It’s seems more likely that the cv axle angle could be correlated (i.e. lift height). The ECGS bushing product page talks about lifts causing a side load on the bearing and the stock bearing not being designed for that.

Best to read the article by East Coast Gear Supply , as mention above, a lift vehicle will cause a side load which can lead to a bearing failure. A stock bearing is not design for the side load from a lifted vehicle.

Over 5,000 sold by East Coast Gear Supply. That is a lot of “bearings”. Cost of the clam shell bearing is $60.00. Labor is estimated under $400 or less, and low at $250, labor only.

Bad bearing maybe the main reason for bad vibrations . By East Coast Gear Supply.

Ive had a 5100 2/1 level on my 09 for years, as well as on my new ‘21 for @ 11 mos. Never had any vibrations or need for ECGS mod.
Also, I can’t see Toyota installing their (5100) TRD lift knowing it causes failure to the bearing/bushing.

I know the vibration issue is definitely a thing for some lifts, and the ECGS is a good fix but Ive never had any problems with 5100’s at 2”.

Like most of you with a lift, we may not experience the vibrations. It can happen , just one company the East Coast Gear Supply sold over 5,000, not counting Yukon and other bushing suppliers.

So this is something we all must be aware of. The vibrations can happen or may never happen?

Good to know about this issues and there is a fix. A costly fix for under $500.
    Toyota Tacomas sold in 2018. - 245,659
    2019- 248,801
    2020- 238,805

    2022-so far 54,000?
