On another note, I never fully understood what the criteria for sending a vehicle to the wholesale auction was; On one end of the spectrum, I prepped an early 2000s Cadillac Deville for the wholesale auction. The car was probably 15 or 16 years old at the time, but it had like 53K original miles, ran great, and didn't seem to have any issues; It was red with a beige interior, and while it wasn't really warm enough at the time to test the A/C, everything else seemed to work. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I saw a blue 2010 Chevy Malibu with only 36K original miles (This was in 2018 or 2019) and a clean title go to the used lot at the dealer; To the untrained eye, this car was a bargain, but several of my coworkers were training to go into auto body repair. One of them pressed down on the roof, and it flexed; This, I was told, was a dead giveaway that the car had been in a significant accident. The car ran great and had a clean title, but that doesn't really mean shit anymore.

Again, I only worked there from the end of summer 2018 to the beginning of summer 2019, just to give you and idea of how old some of these vehicles were at the time; Another example of a vehicle that I wouldn't have put on the lot if I had any say was this red Dodge Ram regular cab short bed 4x4 with the 4.7L V8 that came in on a trade. It did not have the HEMI, but I believe it was an SLT, and it was what I would consider to be loaded; It had the usual stuff like A/C, but it also had power windows and locks, among other things. The truck was a 4th generation (2009-2018) model, and I'm guessing it was like 4 or 5 years old; It appeared to be in good shape, and I forget how many miles were on it, but when it was running you could tell it had a rod knock if you really listened. They put this truck on the lot!

Yet another one was a white 2004 Ford Freestar minivan that had like 160K miles on it; It wasn't in terrible condition, but it wasn't mint either. This veteran detailer, an Albanian guy who'd been there since the early 2000s, is the one who got assigned to prep it for the bargain lot; His general opinion of this van was it was a piece of shit.

Keep in mind that this not only over a year before the chip shortage had an affect on the used car market, but months before the COVID pandemic hit!

    Keep yours.

No way I'd own a 2wd living in the midwest. My opinion is that even if you only have to use 4wd once, it's money well spent.

And let's not forget the bright green 2011-2012 Ford Fiesta that was taken in on a trade at the Nissan dealership (As stated above, this was HUGE family of dealership, with nine locations and probably a dozen brands within a couple miles of each other; It was a base model Fiesta with a 5-speed stick, and it was in good condition with average miles for the year. At least two different detailers complained about the clutch feeling weird, but it was detailed and we brought it back to the Nissan dealer with a couple other cars. My supervisor drove the Fiesta and experienced issues with the clutch; It was only after they went to put it on the lot for sale that they really took notice of the clutch issue and brought it to the service department; It was there that they realized the clutch was totally shot, and the dealer ended up eating the cost of replacing it before putting it back on the lot. The car was about six years at the time and old and I don't remember it having particularly high miles; I have no idea if the car was traded in with a bad clutch or if an idiot employee who didn't know how to drive stick burned it up after the car was traded in, but if it had been the former then I would definitely want to avoid that car because it obviously wasn't taken care of. My uncle has owned his 2002 Nissan Frontier since new and put over 130K miles on it in that time; It has the original clutch!

Put some stabilant 22 on there for now. Replace the connector sooner rather than later.

I'll try, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Looks like pin 3 is the burnt one. With the blower switch on high, pin 3 connects to pins 2 and 6. 6 is ground. So with the key off, connector attached, blower switch on high, pin 3 to both 6 and 2 should show very low resistance. If resistance is lower than .7 ohms I'd call it good.

Resistance check doesn’t always tell you much. It is dependent on the load.

Let’s say you use a DVOM to check the resistance on a single strand of wire. It will be low. But a single strand of wire won’t carry load and will quickly heat up.

You would be better off doing a voltage drop test to confirm ability to carry the load.

But you do have the pins correct. Pin 3 comes from the blower motor to the switch, out of the witch through pin 6 to ground.

In 2 is ground for the blower motor relay.
And it too goes through the switch.

You can typically mask the smell enough that someone who could care less about the smell will purchase the vehicle.

I would bet a pretty penny that thing still smelled of weed. I find about half of the used vehicles I open up have that chemical smell in them. For a lot of buyers, that doesn’t matter whatsoever. Personally I can’t stand it.

Same here; Thankfully, farts don't linger in upholstery, because I've done a lot of that!

Toyota really needs to release a smaller truck just like this at $20k with 30+mpg

I would love the Maverick but until I know it is reliable I don't want to deal with it (and so far they are still seemingly working out some bugs). I'd rather keep my 20 - 24 mpg on my 2.7 and know that it'll keep going without me constantly fixing something or another.

Not a slick deal for you. It’s fair for him but still. I’d pass. If you want a 3rd gen, there will be options down the road. Definitely do not sell your RC 2010. That’s a unicorn.

My 2002 Tundra has some gorilla glue sickly sweet smell, curious if this might help it? Any more detail on the specific product?

My buddy, the PO (sold to him then bought back) had an AC duct tunnel to the bed for his dogs. He glued it down. At least I think that’s the smell. He doesn’t smoke.

More often than not cars go to wholesale if they over 10 years old. Most car dealerships can't finance vehicles over 10 years old since most banks won't allow it. It is also based on what they think will sell quickly vs will sit for awhile. Time is money, the longer it sits, the longer they aren't getting money from the sale. Easier to send it to wholesale and get the money right away.

That is WAY inflated and this market will not last. I would not buy a truck that had been a smoker's truck. From experience I can tell you that it does seem to last forever. I personally would not buy a 2wd truck. So, there is zero chance I would buy a smokers 2wd truck for 30k. Wait a bit and I fully expect the bottom to fall out of the market. There is an economic storm brewing.

I have a case sitting in my garage. This stuff is very good but the smell is unbearably strong (at least to me). I used two cans on a car I picked up that has been smoked in, it worked for a while but the smoke crept back in. It's the combination of things that worked at the end.
