Does the 2" leveling kit STILL cause the vibration in the newer 3rd Gens?

I just got a 2020 and want to do new coils vs spacers I had in my '11. I don't want any rake. Want level or slightly higher in front. Do I need 5100 or something else? And the big question, will this screw up my front camera? Thanks in advance

 

You can alway adjust the front cameras. Robmotive did it it his front camera , something about adding washers to the tilt.

 

Would installing a diff drop reduce the vibration or the chances of it? Seems that would be easier and less expensive than doing the bushing.

 

After reading a few articles on benefits of the Front diff drop kit. It just reduce the CV angles back closer to factory specification. Prolonging the life of the CV axles and boots.

No where is mention it reduces vibrations. Or help with “bushing” problems. Not related.

East Coast Gear Supply , mention to stop the vibrations is replace with a clam shell bushings.

 

Wouldn't getting the cv angles back closer to factory spec put less strain on the bearings?

 

I wish I could answer your question. All I found was the lift puts a load on the right side (driver side ) bushing . The left side is built differently. When replacing the bushing it will be only the driver side.

The drop diff kit, Has nothing to do about the loads on the driver side from what I understand. If not everyone would do a diff drop.

What causes the actual loads? After a lift? Maybe there is some one who can explain this?

 

I did the spacers shortly after getting my truck new so did not notice any change in ride quality over factory. But the 5100's are a 100X better than the OE suspension.

 

Everyone does not get the vibration you're inquiring about.

I have a 3rd gen with 2" lift, carrier drop kit and no vibes.

ECGS bushing is recommended but not required and not required when you first do your lift.

Be sure to source your answers. There's a very frequent phenomenon that happens on this site where 2nd gen truck owners exaggerate 3rd gen problems.

 

How does Toyota address this issue with the TRD lift kit and the trail edition with the factory lift?

AFAIK, they don’t and this is more evidence that there is no issue (at least you if you don’t go beyond 2”).

 

They don't. I imagine if and when a bushing fails they're replace it with the factory part at their expense if inside the warranty period (at owners expense if outside the warranty period.)

 

It seems the clam shell bushing maybe a better bushing then the factory ones. Even under warranty might be wiser to spent the money on the clam shell bushing in the long run?

After having installed many lifts we've only had one person request the needle bearing to be replaced but have not had any issues with vibrations after lifting.

Before being sold the new trucks at my dealership that they lift get the drivers side needle bearing replaced with the ecgs bushing. They know there's a problem.

 

What dealership is that? I can pretty much guarantee your dealership is an outlier. They must have an owner or manager that's an enthusiast.

 

Their are probably 1,600,000 Tacomas with lifts. Mine included. All are problem free. The 76 posted responses on here are the other half. …just saying

 

Well, at least that's what they told me when i inquired about getting the ecgs bushing installed... said they install many of them. The manager mentioned they had needle bearing issues with some of the lifted trucks they sold in the past and as long as they got it torn apart they go ahead and install the bushing.... less customer complaints. Their parts dept stocks them.
