MESO Puddle Light build

I installed my switch for the puddle lights and the on button is not working but the off and auto work.The instructions that came with them are lacking in details. Thoughts?

 

Yeah, it’s been suitably grounded.

 

There was nowhere to ground in my overhead. I guess I'll extend ect and put it up there unless I can figure out where to ground into the oem harness.

 

Looks like you can ground to that center bolt.

It's bolted to plastic.

 

I extended my ground and re-sleeved, also added PWM - for switch illumination ground which is separate from the chassis ground for “on” then mounted the ground hoop to the driver kick panel OEM ground.

For install in the overhead panel it might really be preferable to offer an extension harness to run up the a pillar and across the headliner.

for now I’d probably just splice in extra wire and sleeve it.

 

Dang I was going to install mine in the overhead too with a panel i got fron etsy. I have no empty slots besides the tall one in my 2020 since its fully loaded. The only thing i dont use is the QI charger. Maybe ill remove that switch. Lol

 

I just installed the puddle pods switch kit next to my ECT center control panel and was wondering if there’s a swicth available so it can be installed next to the Auto high beams? Maybe @MESO

 

^^ The way to do this is with a new driver cubby which can have no talls and do the 3 on the bottom all small and whatever you want up top or any custom setup. The factory driver cubby has a tall for clutch start/cancel for we MT folks since Toyota doesn't make a small version of that one.

 

Anyone have a part number for the red plastic pieces that secure the overhead console to the metal panel?

I'll get a pic of my ground when I get a couple of those.

Hmmm, that is very odd that they are constant on then. I assume your dome lights aren't on since you didn't mention seeing them.
I have a feeling maybe one of the wires in the A-pillar T-harness might be swapped or something.

 

The problem is that it’s not all the time. This is only the second time (that I know of). After the first time it happened, I always duck down to check and see if they are on or not.
