That's about the same temps here for this weekend, looks like a feeschin Sunday afternoon a coming!!!

 

That hurts as bad as filling up the truck

 

What size tap would this be?




We assumed 1/4”-18 NPT……that’s what we get for assuming.



They wanted 1/4”-19 BSPP which is straight, not tapered.

They brought us the piece that goes in it, 3 months after they got the parts.



Hopefully I can just run the other tap in and it’ll work. 1 extra thread per inch hopefully won’t kill them.

 

I would have said 1/4" NPTF.

 

Well our insurance/osha inspectors walked through today and told us we need to have a guard on our low speed manual feed milling machine.

 

But... it says 1/4" GAS right on the drawing...

 

Like an armed guard?

 

Right. NPTF is National Pipe Taper Fuel.

That would have been my guess before they said it needed to be BSPP.

 

That's what I'd like to put in, to keep them away...

 

I don't understand needing a guard on it, you can't use it if you can't get to all the levers, etc.

That was our comments exactly. Or if you have a large piece attached to the bed, it would be all kinds of in the way.

 

They also said we needed to find a way to guard the two inches of bandsaw blade to the right of the cutting area. Right where the guide wheels are, and where it slides to adjust.

 

I think with all the moving blades, belts, chains, etc. there the milling machine should be the least of the insurance mans worries

Understood, and I don't for a second pretend to be an expert in these matters, but the only time I've ever seen 'GAS' used is in relation to threading is to refer to BSP, never to NPS or NPT.

 

Okay, that's just idiotic! If you can cut yourself on that bit of blade, you're a maroon!
