As much as I like my Optimus Ti I stripped to get this rolling I may have to sell it just to avoid the temptation (and expense) to build it back up after riding this one.

There's a bike path that goes along the east bay. I'm basically at sea level the whole ride it's all flat.

I have been using Purple Extreme for a long minute. My Amazon purchase history says I've been getting around 2 years per bottle with the exception of 2019 where I spent quite a few days in Whistler that summer. Still working on that 2020 bottle. :bikewheelie:

Historically I just use whatever is laying around at the LBS for chain lube and never complained. But, my most recent purchase was Maxima and the lube is fine but the container is terrible. It squirts hard as fuck like Old Faithful ,leaks when laying sideways, and has some stupid child-lock bullshit so when your hands are already greasy its impossible to remove the lid. Every other lube I've ever used simply drips out - which is much easier to apply and doesn't leak. Rant over but since we were already talking about it...

Ouch. 3 decent sized ones in one ride? Where are you riding? I'm "only" at two snake spottings in CO this year... so far.

This little guy was right in the middle of the trail. I made sure he was safe from the Schwalbe and maxxis also.

    Yeah.
I once had to bunny hop a mating pair. I wasn't going to go back and try to move them to safety, and just hoped I didn't ruin the moment.

Nice review. I was pretty interested in this bike. Ended up with a v3 Following and it also has a slacker STA than I'd prefer. I'm not sure what benefits a few of these designers are thinking they are achieving with slacker than modern STAs but they should re-evaluate IMO. Steepish STA (76+) is the way to go IMO. I'm thinking about adding an angle set just to steepen the STA a bit (but the Following could use a slacker front end too).
I was just there last weekend! Good beers! No biking though :(
Basically moderate temps year round and trails that are mostly well suited to wet riding. I'm still a pretty seasonal rider and skiing or fishing in the winter with random fair-weather rides thrown in. Once everything is all dry and dusty I'm usually out fly fishing the beaches for salmon with some higher-alpine rides thrown in.
