It brings the natural oils back to the surface but if theyre already painted then do not try this method.

 

Did you take them off first? I’d be worried about accidentally damaging the paint on the fenders.

 

My transmission light come on after I have crawlbox engaged for a bit. As soon as I disengage it, light turns off. Worried me at first. Now I say fuck it and keep on hammering down

the heat gun method works, but only work a limited number of times and doesn't last super long.

I woudl recommend this stuff. Used it on some cladding on my daily driver with great success. Make sure you follow the instructions and get the flares super clean though.

Just realized my fluttering idle is most likely from the new P0300 code I have now. Random cylinder misfire. After doing some light research on TW I’m hoping it’s either my injectors or fuel pump since I haven’t touched those for as long as I’ve owned the truck (past 92k miles).
Spark plugs, coils, wires, hoses, MAFS, are all relatively new from when I did my valve cover gasket job about 2 years ago. Open to any other advice.

 

Dropping the driveshaft off next week for u-joint replacement, new propeller shaft (staked) nut ordered as well. If I clean the original flange nuts/bolts and apply fresh threadlocker, can they be reused?

 

Yes they are fine to re-use.

 

Anyone got the part number for the little LBJ boot thing.

 

I don't think you really need it. plenty of trucks that run without them

 

I ran without one for a long time and didn't have any issues, the earlier 1st gens didn't have them up until 2000 or 2001 I think. But last time I did the LBJs I picked up an extra just to toss on there.

 

The threads on the head portion are stripped? I don't see why you couldn't just drill out and re-tap to the next size up, be sure to keep track of every single metal shaving while doing so.

Honestly, the more I think about it, that might actually be a decent spot for a helicoil since it's not under a ton of torque/stress and you shouldn't need to worry about stripping it again. I'm sure others will chime in though, just my .02.

stripped out threads or snapped the head off?

 

If you have a welder, weld a nut on the end and spin it off. Make sure you cover up the valve cover and the few hoses there.

If no welder, take a cut off/hacksaw and cut a flat head into the bolt, then impact driver with said flat head bit. Again valve cover covered as well.

Not even a few ftlbs tight so should come out pretty easily, penetrating oil helps too.

First off though, I'd hit it with some channel locks or pliers...

Spindles are back on the truck with new inner/ outer tie rods and LBJs.

 

Thank you guys for the tips. I snapped the head off is what happened. I have no idea why it was so tight.
