Buy Vf tuner , their cord and dongle for the obd port, buy credits to get access to your specific ECU. Buy tune and you can flash yourself. It's a little more complex than that . I just gave you the short version

I went to John a year ago and had the KDMAX 92 octane tune put on my 2018 Tacoma 4X4 Off-Road. I was very happy with the tune and would have recommended anyone to John to tune to the KDmax. However, fast forward one year and now we have crazy gas prices, and I went back to John to retune my truck to the KDmax with 87 octane. This is when John told me about the OTT tune. John introduced me to the tune by telling me it was self-learning octane calibration and that if he updated my truck to the new OTT tune, I would be very happy with its improvements over the KDmax. So, I agreed to have my truck retuned to the OTT. WOW!!!! My drive home is about 90 miles and I averaged 20.6 miles per gallon on the trip home. I must add that I have oversized 285 BFG’s E rated tires on my truck. Also, this tune woke this truck up! A huge difference in the power range. I had the OTT tune done 3 months ago and I am still as happy today as I was the day it was done. Everything I hated about the Tacoma was fixed in John’s hands. I really can’t say enough about how happy I am with the performance, support, and service that I received with Over land Trailor.

    Enough for now
you could also pull your ECU and mail it to a tuner. Only works if you have another vehicle or means of transportation

My truck isn't as heavy as Cristin's so....I have the Med/Mild Sauce for street driving. (Touch Point)

So I had the quick response fixed with 8.0 update initially getting the 7.0. I still have to watch my pedal control but otherwise, "I LIKE IT!"

From the video beginning at: 8:25 "Enhanced Plus Throttle...nice and mellow off the get-go, so when you initially hit the gas pedal, it's not going to be super jerky. That allows you to ease into things in stop & go traffic...or when you're off-roading sneaking up on a ledge or something."

It has been by far the smoothest my truck has ever run on gears. The shift points are solid and exactly where they need to be. The power down low is amazing. I couldn’t be happier with the way my truck drives and shifts on the new OTT.

Awesome thanks! I can't wait. I am getting 5.29 gears installed in a couple weeks, then a few more weeks of breaking in. Then I will go see my tuner to get the latest OTT. I am coming from the KDMax Pro Tune.

I am curious, what is your setup and roughly what kinda MPGs you seeing? From what I've read, the new OTT gives great MPG.

I am on 33s with full armor, front bumper and winch, tons of recovery gear. I average 8-12 going a mile and a half to work, 16-18 at freeway speeds, and I’ve seen 20+ on slower highways.

Thanks! Lol so pretty close to what I'm getting now. How you liking the 5.29 gears? Easier time maintaining 65mph on the highway and a better driving experience?

So I seen your posts today. I was getting 19.5 mpg with 92 octane and keeping around 65mph. I have stock gears 315/75/16 truck is over 5400 lbs . I'm running the most up to date OTT. Last week I hit my best of 21.1 mpg , only staying at 60mph .

Your gonna love the new OTT . I recently was giving the new kdmax pro+XT a shot . It was a nice upgrade from their last tune . Hands down for me OTT gets the win. Time will tell ,I'm sure kdmax is working on something . Today when I was cruising home on my 72 mile journey from work I actually kept the ac on . I drive a lot and I can notice the load the ac puts on the motor . I can say this OTT handles great with a loaded bed of gear. I'll be going on a family camping trip in July for my birthday . Be my first time towing a utility trailer with our gear pack on that instead of my truck lol shortbox . I'm excited to see how this tune handles to me a decent trip . One way 170 miles .

I love it. The way this thing launches and has no hesitation makes it definitely worth it. I also plan on going up to a 34” tire later this summer to help a little bit more.

Awesome! Lol I eventually want to go 34s as well, however since I have a 16 inch rim, the tire choices are slim. I can either go 33.4, or 34.5! Kinda wish I went 17s looking back...

Thanks Chris! I have really been enjoying readying your thoughts as you test out different tunes. I am very optimistic about the new OTT. Lol I love that you are also getting great numbers on 35s, stock gears, and a loaded bed.

I appreciate your insight on this. I was hoping somone would provide feedback on the new iteration of the KDMax tune compared to OTT 8.0
As I have KDMax Pro, I was wondering how OTT compares to KDMax Pro+XT. Can you give us more specific info on the differences and how it affects everyday driving yet?
I have really liked the KDMax tunes, but I am still not satisfied with the weakness(lack of torque) when at hiway speeds and going up grades. I hope OTT resolves this.

There is definitely a difference in trq with Ott vs kdmax . I love how 5th holds . Like Ott said in previous post the tune doesnt necessarily focus on holding 6th gear and the tune is more for power on demand. Keeping good power when foot asks for it . Kdmax seemed to shift more often compared to OTT
