have a drilled 22RE pump pushing my IFS box and 2x8" ram. It works alright but it's a little slow with that ram.

I have a TG pump and pulley on the shelf though

I need to totally redo my steering. I have no idea where air is getting into the PS system on the crawler or how it's doing what it's doing. Ram was fully extended and the fluid level was low when I parked it. Now the res is almost full. I'm confused because that sure seems impossible for air to enter the system and push fluid up lol

Is the ram fully compressed now? Cause that would explain where the fluid went

    No, still fully extended

I've replaced pump, hydro lines, and resealed the ram as well as doubled the reservoir size as those are places where it was pulling air and bubbling over on the trail and it's better than it used to be. I need to rebuild the box and replace the low pressure lines as well. Something is awry.

Never ending. Hydraulic assist is mostly done. Need to change one of the fittings to a 90*, also need to lift the engine a little... while I wait for that I'm going to start the FJ case/twin sticks.

Fittings at the box were loose, hopefully that's it for a while. I know I need to rework the steering some but damn I wanna wheel this summer first lol

New front third is in and axle is assembled. Need to bleed the brakes and steering again

I'm curious to know how well the internals and seals hold up to it.. gonna give it a shot and let us know? :D

Interestingly I find the steering effort on my Tacoma is pretty good with 35s unless a sidewall is against a rock then it fails.. I don't know if the tire rods would last if the rack had more power

Maybe one day. But yea I don't totally hate the steering on the Tacoma as it is now. Sure it's no hydro assist, but it does fine in 90% of situations right now with my 295's.
If I ever go to rebuild my pump, I might experiment with drilling it out just a little bit bigger than stock to see if that makes a difference.
I don't want to change the on road feel of the steering with how twitchy it is, so I would imagine that very small changes would be the name of the game on an IFS setup.

We in the Toyota world are so used to underpowered engines with low torque :D.

Buddy of mine had to the link the rear as well after doing an LS swap. The torque was just destroying his leaf springs like in your case.

Old post I know. But any idea on if this is still the case? I'm on 35's now, and looking at 37x12.50 16 size, and if they are only going to be .5" taller, than it's not worth it. As per here they are 36.8 https://www.maxxis.com/us/tire/creepy-crawler-m8090/
