Yeah, I got $24,500 on my trade. Had another closer dealership offer me $28k on a used '19 OR and said they would probably offer me closer to $30k for my Hyundai on a new one. But between January and March they never got any allocations for the truck I wanted (OR in Silver) and then another dealership I had previously contacted got that allocation in with a 03/29 build date, but I could only get them to come up to the $24,500 (originally offered me $22k).

I just didn't want to risk waiting for that other dealership...lol. But of course right after I got it, gas prices went to shit, so sorry I caused that guys.

Before Covid, the Costco Auto price was $500 over invoice price. I'm sure there were a lot of deals at invoice price. Just depends on the options as to how much lower invoice is than MSRP.

Right now you’re just lucky to find a dealer who will sell you at MSRP and doesn’t try to gouge you.

I was able to purchase my 2021 TRD OR with premium/advanced tech in March 2021 for $3K off MSRP. New car inventories were low, but factories had just started ramping up again at the end of 2020. It was also right before the chip shortage became more pronounced and the used car market took off.

Just wait. In 2008 when gas prices spiked and the economy tanked, NOBODY wanted a truck.

I picked up a base Ram for 15K out the door. MSRP was 22. After trade I paid 9 and change for it. Drove that thing for 8 years before it started developing electrical gremlins. Sure, the gas bill sucked for about a year, but in the end I won on that bargain.

So I'm waiting. Most of the ingredients for a good deal are coming soon. Once people stop buying trucks, there will be bargains.

Yeah, was able to order mine in jan of 2020 for 3k under msrp, plus the $1500 factory rebate. Was always able to buy a toyota pickup for under msrp. Just unheard of not to.

Depends to back then what dealers had on their lots. I've gotten some great deals on toyota trucks in the past if buying off their stock. Didn't want to but no one had an sr5 access cab in quicksand in the east. Dealers were going out of their way to buy something in stock which was very tempting, but being up in age now i told myself i was going to get exactly what i wanted this time.

    Oh look, another mod....
The same will apply to the housing market soon. When it crashes, I'll swoop in to buy a 2nd property for half the price it once was. Then rent it out or flip it.

The cars & trucks will come from all the repossessions that will start occurring. A lot of owners are upside down on their vehicles. They financed too much (and probably got a shitty interest rate).

I think that is coming too, all pickup trucks are going to plummet in value. The people paying sky high prices today for used ones are really going to end up under water.
