I put $1,000 to reserve it on early June. The arrival window to dealership is between June 15-22. So, still waiting.
As soon as notified by Toyota, I'll sell my 2005 Taco (17 years with me) to a local buyer that wants it bad! (lol!), and put that money down.

 

· Reserved on March 9th (was already allocated to the dealership)

· Originally had a production date of March 26th, delayed to April 13th, delayed again to April 20th.

· Built on April 21st

· Arrived in Long Beach on May 5th

· Departed Long Beach on rail on June 2nd

· Arrived in Silver Bow (trail yard about 50 miles from my dealership) on June 10th

· June 13th heard from my dealer that my Tacoma got assigned a truck to transport it to the dealership

· June 13th later that night my VIN stopped working on V-Spec

· Showed up to my dealer on the 15th and I picked it up on the 17th

Two things:

1. V-Spec never showed me anything other than F the whole time.

2. My Toyota App never gave me a single update the whole time.

Once aging a big thanks to Rod for helping me out along the way.

I spoke with these guys and they are price adjusting. I think they were 3k over sticker for an OR.

 

Hey @Rod03 , newbie here but when a truck is built, how long does a perm VIN take to show up? Do I have to contact my dealer for perm VIN or is there another way to find it? Thanks.

 

@Rod03 Is there any way to track a VIN? This is the VIN if possible 3TMGZ5AN7NM20B088.

 

Long time lurker on this thread. But I can now happily announce I joined the Tacoma family! Series of events: Placed deposit 5/7 - allocation already reserved for the dealership (Kansas City area). Built 6/1, and delivered today! Good luck to all those still waiting out there!

Does anyone else check Toyota Tracker or the Guest Dealer site 17x a day? Does it help?

 

After my temp vin stopped working today, I went on the dealership website and found the only magnetic gray TRD OR with Premium package and all the factory installed options that matches my vspec, same exact price and every thing. I plugged that vin into the tracker and it's currently on F. Fingers crossed that's my truck. Scheduled build was June 15th thanks to Rod03's help tracking the progress. Hoping it doesn't take too long to ship from the Baja plant to Oakland, CA, but we'll see. The salesman originally told me it was scheduled to be built in July, but based on the temp vin, it was supposed to be built on the 20th week which was back in May. To say I'm excited is an understatement.

 

Here's my experience so far:

(May 2nd)..Found a dealership that had either Barcelona Red or Silver Sky Metallic 4x4 Offroad or Sport that was allocated AND WAS NOT CHARGING OVER MSRP! Was told they had a Barcelona Red allocated in system..Put $500 down that day.

The dealership is Bristol Toyota in Tennessee by the way.

Was told by salesman it was to be built on the 13th ...(DID NOT HAPPEN)

Kept checking Toyota app daily..on May 24th the Temp Vin# quit working,I called my Salesman that day and he sent me this


My truck was built on May 24th,it sat there in SanDiego until June 10th and finally shipped by train to Princeton Indiana..and I was told by Rod03 ( this guy has helped all of us out with kindness in his heart) that it was due to arrive June 27th.

My Salesman has went out of his way,contacted me atleast 4 times since ordering.

I'll let you guys know the day it arrives at dealer..was told it would be around June 30th or 1st week of July..we'll see

Well… ended up deciding on spending $2k more and getting a 22 crew cab 4wd Silverado. I think was interesting…Toyota and Honda dealers in Nashville are all over msrp with either markups or “accessory pkg” shit- but my wife shopped between a BMW X3 and a Lexus rx350 and neither of those brands charged one penny over msrp. Seven Chevy dealers in my area also did not charge over msrp or add unwanted packages. Chevy and ford seem to be doing better than Toyota about getting product to the dealers now.

I use the Toyota Tracker website all the time. Ended up buying the developer a couple of beers with the link.

I have owned Toyota trucks since 1988.The shortages sure have made the truck buying experience different since 2016 when I bought my present Tacoma Sport. I was under the assumption the 2022 TRD Sport came equipped like my 2017. I had to add a $5100 option for the TRD Premium Sport package to get all the same stuff. They didn't even know if they could get that package or when. I went with the Limited that comes with all these options for about the same price. So the Limited is build and waiting for it to arrive (sometime).

 

I'm also going with a Limited. It was the only model I could get an allocation for that had the options I wanted.
