Relaxed yesterday and took it easy. Bought the Vinca's at the local nursery and will plant this morning. I am getting ready to repot the hanging baskets we bought. I think the pansies are root bound and not enough potting soil was in the baskets. We picked up a bag of soil yesterday and I will get the repotting done this morning. I may or may not instruct my son how to replace the heating element in the dryer today. The element and a few other heat related parts came in the mail while we were in Nashville. I do not know our dinner plans yet, but I have 2 strip steaks on deck for dinner tonight or tomorrow night.

I recycle Styrofoam for the neighborhood and the lady across the street brought me two large food shipping Styrofoam containers. I have a friend that rescues, treats, and places cats in forever homes. I will take the containers to her today. She uses them for feral cat shelters in the winter.

    Morning all:

Got the carb issue fixed, put a different carb on from my inventory!
New accelerator pump housing, new accelerator pump diaphragm, new fuel bowl gasket, shortened the mounting screws by about 1 1/2 threads, and the carb still leaked at the accelerator pump. Need to check the fuel bowl mating surface to see if that could be the issue or could just install another complete fuel bowl and see what happens.

Don't know what carb you have or if it has a power valve or whatever diaphrams it has, but ethanol makes mush out of diaphrams and anything not fuel resistant.

One of my sons is a fidutiary (correct spelling ?) and he tells me to stop looking at the S&P500 every day or I will stroke out, just leave it alone and the long term trend says it will come back.
He's probably right, I worry less now.
When stocks are high I love to talk about it all day and when they drop I get surly.

    Afternoon all:

    # 3246 Holley 4150, 780cfm single accelerator pump.
They do make green accelerator pump diaphragms that are for alcohol. haven't seen any power valves though for alcohol. The accelerator pump diaphragm is brand new and installed 2 new power valves also, all Holley, so the ethanol factor shouldn't be a problem. I have rebuilt various Holley 4150's multiple times and never had this problem, probably something simple that I'm just overlooking, even checked the pump lever to make sure it's not bottoming out the diaphragm. NBD, will get to it one day, the one I put on the car works fine and I have 2 other carbs that are ready to bolt on if needed, always good to have spare parts!!! :)

Maybe I missed it... but what's the carb going on?

    :worthless:

I'm not a Holley guy. Every one I've ever had experience with was prone to needing constant adjustments. Several had warped bowls and leaked. But my brother likes them, and I know others do.

1966 Impala, factory L-72 427 425hp car which I have had from new. I also like the Holley's and really never had any major problems with them, that 3246 is also the correct OEM carb for the motor.
That's the one thing I didn't check, the fuel bowl mating surface for the accelerator pump housing.

Yup, another possibility, got to really look at it closely, one of these days, at least I have a problem narrowed down to a very small specific area.

Got your accelerator pump check valve? Power valve gaskets sealing properly? That mating surface changed over the years, flat square corners went to rounded corners. New diaphragms are crap. There are kits, and then there are kits you can trust. Daytonaparts.com kits you can trust.

Don’t know if I showed these.
Overhauled a couple of edelbrock carbs for a supercharged SMC.
    Nasty.
Still haven’t heard from him. Suppose to sync them up when he gets it ready to fire up.

Sound advise! Welcome to the porch. If you have been on the porch before sorry I missed you.

Now I will be impressed if you have a spare L72 lying around. J/K It is amazing the stuff we hold on to "Just in Case". ;)

Back at you Ken. Had a special Fathers Day gift from my son yesterday. He bought dinner at Skippers Pier, a dozen jumbo steamed crabs and Ice tea along with a dozen steamed shrimp. The crabs were big and heavy. Yesterday was windy on the water. The band played solid 70's and 80's music by artist I like.

Nice pics Mike. It is the little thing that make you a pro. Having a work surface and laying the carb out in an organized manner is just one of them.

Today is do maintenance on the dryer and cook up a couple of strip steaks for dinner. Grill some asparagus and pineapple wedges to make it a meal.
