(also posted in the Columbus Ohio thread)

hey fellow Central Ohioans...where is the best place around us to get off roading parts; or to have modifications done to our trucks? I am talking like bigger stuff like lifts, engine stuff etc. I am not mechanically inclined - or more truthfully, I can't afford to use my truck as my learning platform and want stuff done correctly. Just looking to do some stuff down the road to get my SR5 ready for some back country camping use.

Are there any local fabricating shops that would do rock sliders or bumpers?

    Just curious

Just moved to Cleveland. Drove the piss out of my little Taco pulling a travel trailer 11,000 miles to get here and now she needs some love from a great mechanic. Any recommendations?

I was planning on having Trails West out near Pataskala do my lift/wheels and tires but ended up learning a bunch here on TW and YouTube and did the install myself. I've heard good things about them and they get good reviews on Google. From most google reviews I've read most people have not had a great experience with 4 Wheel Parts.

cool...will look into them. Seems that 4 Wheel Parts is more of a national chain, and I wanted to give my money to some locals if I can...

Hmmm, I remember that terribly cold day, but forgot exactly what year it was. I tagged along with a friend who raced a different 2 hour hare scramble at the Amherst Meadowlarks track (I am sure turksandjerps knows of it). It was literally 0F the entire race and it was rough even being a spectator. My friend had some vision problems for a couple of hours after it and was concerned he had frozen his corneas. Fortunately, he was okay. I am from Wakeman, about 50 miles southwest of Cleveland. Wow, we are getting old (at least me and OverlandExpress ).

I was in the same are. Wasnt the great blizzard the year the year before in "79" or was it "77"?

I was 12. Living in Akron during the blizzard. Remember it well. My mom would always have "WMMS", The Buzzard playing on the radio.

The "Blizzard of '78" was in late January of 1978 ( https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2018/01/blizzard_of_1978_still_stings.html ). I remember them using one of those really big front-end loaders to dig out our road and put the snow in dump trucks to haul away. There were places on the road where it had drifted to literally 10 feet deep.

Yeah, always fun-fun-fun around here from about November through April :annoyed:

    Ahhh yes. 1978.
I got up to Akron year before last to visit some places I remembered as a kid.
My folks have retired in indiana and since moved about an hour south of Akron.

The 1978 blizzard was crazy for sure and I remember front end loaders and dump trucks in my neighborhood as well. Man, we were out of school for like 2 weeks! and would go climb on and build tunnels in the huge mounds of snow that were pilled up down at SS Kresgies, Western auto and Pennys at the strip mall

Now that the weather has begun to turn, I’m starting to see more and more Tacoma’s out. Way more than winter. Where’s everyone at?? We should start a Cleveland spotting page.

man...the Blizzard of 78...that was awesome!! We were out in it playing football, sledding, missing school. The power was out for 3 weeks in our neighborhood, but we had an old farm house with 3 fireplaces, so we had them up and running old school. Dad worked for AEP - Columbus and Southern Electric Company - and was gone most of the time, which was weird.

Alright, I'm thinking of changing up the TRD OR wheels and 255/85/16 Cooper ST Maxx's. Anyone interested in a set of 4? There's about half the tread left and roughly 20k miles on them!
