Hey all, question for anyone willing to help. My engine coolant is running low. Don’t know if it’s because the s/c, hot NC weather, or leaker somewhere. It’s a closed system so I am confused why the fluid volume it getting smaller. Can’t smell anything weird from turning hot ac, never have noticed anything weird with exhaust smoke. Tracked all tubing did not see any leaks, except for some some small crystallization on the over flow reservoir (pic attached). Engine has never run hot based on temp gauge. Can coolant evaporate?

Truck has 93k miles on it. Taking it into shop to do cooling flush soon.

Also can someone explain or point me in the right direction to learn why I have 3 radiators?

all info and help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

You don’t have 3 radiators. You have one, plus one AC condenser plus one transmission cooler. Probably also an inter cooler if supercharged.

check if you water pump is leaking

Look at the water pump weep hole and any dried up coolant on the crank case. Will look like a pinkish sediment formation under the engine.

Interesting, coolant is all filled up which I believe means there are no leaks past the radiator. Is that the right thinking? Also no leaks/ sediment

If there is no leaks possible you have a bad head gasket not very common in that year tho. How much are you losing. Take a pic of the cap with the seal

I’m good. I’m just going to do a coolant flush soon and see how things play out. Itching my head, but engines not overheating so that’s good. Thanks for all the help guys.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Are you losing engine coolant or intercooler coolant? They are completely divorced systems.

I know just enough to question things haha.. Ok so, I think this supercharger coolant reservoir is leaking (leak streaks beneath it, under cap, and at front hose clamp). If the engine is cold should this be filled?

@zippsub9 is this the intercooler coolant?

yea that's the intercooler tank. if its leaking you'll need a new one or you could try an epoxy if you find where its leaking from on the tank. you could fill it whenever as its a totally separate system from the engine and its not under pressure.

Yes it should be around 3/4 full even when cold.

Well that was a fun exercise looking between engine and supercharger manual. Just to see this exact schematic is at the end of the supercharger manual hahah nice update: and on page 1 of the thread ha

This is a dumb question that I can’t find on on the internet. So, for the intercooler coolant, since it is not a pressurized system, does the fluid just sit wherever it is when the engine is turned off?

that’s what I am think. I actually don’t think the reservoir is cracked. Maybe just new cap seal and maybe new tubing

Ya the pump should come on when they key is on second click. Just top it off a bit. I see them sweating a lot around the cap nothing to be alarmed about just top it off snug the cap and check it again when u want

I would say that's about the going rate. I use to charge $100/hr with 2 hour minimum plus mileage if over 20 miles away. That was before prices weren't through the roof on everything.

The hoses pushed into the plastic nipple of the tank and the aluminum nipple behind the radiator cap are trash by themselves and leak. My engine bay used to be pink cause they leaked so much. I used a couple small hose clamps when the pick crystals are forming and it helped a bunch.
