    Good Afternoon/Evening

The wife is home. I picked her up at the airport. The plane was even early.
    Things are back to normal.

Last weekend in Northern Wisconsin the ticks were bad. Even brought 2 home. Using tick spray didn't help much.
Then on Thursday doing yard work had one on my hand.
Still having the fathom tick feeling. I'll stop whatever I'm doing and do a tick check.

Just got back from Pembroke, MA from my son's wedding. This is his 2nd. The Starter wife gave him a great Daughter, but it only lasted a year he has custody. The wife liked too many boys!
This one is built to last, they have a newborn and kept the wedding low-key with about 45 people in their backyard. A few Tents, frozen Margaritas, and a Taco food truck.
It was a very nice day.
I'm glad I took tomorrow off!

i'll have the creeps the rest of the night, maybe tomorrow. got to strip the bed in the camper and vacuum everything out there. all clothes will get at least a tumble at high heat if not a wash. and i'll have the cooties all over again so i'll need another shower.

still can't chalk that one up in the win column i dont think.

thats what freaks me out is the diseases they carry and the long term effects they can have on your health. i guess i got lucky that the one i had as a kid never caused anything long term (that i know of) since he never made it to the lab to be tested.
and really...what is their purpose?!?! nothing. nothing benefits from them. they have no reason for existing other than to carry diseases.

also.... camp moron report.... or something like that

choices were slim to avoid the flood waters and danger zones. headed for a mountain lake that can be iffy as far as the type of campers that show up there. i usually only go there once a year when the wild raspberries are ready for pickin'

friday i get up there and there are only 3/22 sites free. two sites get 4g cell and they were both taken. so i opted for the only available site that had suitable hammock trees. set up and settle in.
the site next to me had a family from out of state. husband/wife/and i don't know how many kids, lost track trying to keep track of them. they were in a tent. husband gets his kayak and fishing pole and heads off to the lake. wife/kids left behind. there's lots of trails/roads in the area, actually took one of the early TW meets up there. i'm settled in the hammock reading a book. i hear some FAR FAR away gunshots, little "pops". didn't think anything of it. lady starts pacing through the campsite. then up and down the camp road. tells her kids to get into the car. she's still pacing. I'm still chilling in the hammock. she comes up to me (not many folks IN camp at that time) and asks if that was gusnhots. yep. she looks at me like i'm crazy because i heard it and am still chilled out. she asks if we should do anything about it. like what? they're far away, there's miles of forest service roads, its MT, everyone has guns, just someone doing a little target practice, no big deal, call 911 and they're going to think you're crazy. she gets in the car and drives to the lake which was only about 100 yards. honks and yells for her husband to come back to camp. he comes back. she cowers in camp for the rest of the afternoon/evening, refuses to let her kids play or otherwise enjoy themselves in any way and makes the husband stay in camp as well. they were packed and gone before i even got up for my morning bathroom break.

family on the other side of me as well. lots of kids again. camp has an ameoba shape to it and I was at the bottom/inside of one of the U's. kids keep cutting through my camp on their way to the lake. i was getting annoyed and also just wanted to F with them a little so each time the kids wandered through i set up an obstacle in the path they took - chair, table, bucket, firewood, etc. basically had a wall of camping shit strung out from my back step to my fire pit. kids still tried to cut through my camp even though by the end of it they were walking further doing so and avoiding my obstacles than it would have been to just stick to the GD road.

the family across the road from me wasn't an issue. H/W/younger son. He had a RC truck he was driving around the boulders in camp and enjoying himself. they kept to themselves and weren't an issue. at some point friday night i'm sitting by the fire and this big black/white dog i don't know what kind wanders over to my camp and just settles its head on my lap and sighs. kinda freaked me out and i was a little afraid to move. didn't seem like a mean dog but given the proximity i didn't want to risk it. just very quietly started talking "oh, hey there pupper. where did you come from?" next thing i know all three of them are yelling for "Daisy". dog kinda looked up and then set her head back on my leg. i asked "are you Daisy?" and she looked at me. I yelled out "over here!" and they all came running. they were super apologetic about her little intrusion into my camp but she seemed happy just hanging out by the fire with me  they kept a close eye on her the rest of the weekend.

then saturday another site cleared out and some new campers moved in. little Honda Element pulls in and two guys, guessing late 50's or early 60's, get out. dirty jeans, cowboy boots, pot bellies, harley/budweiser/whatever tanks, beards. one starts setting up the tent while the other one hangs the biggest confederate flag i've ever seen from some of the trees. kind of an eclectic set up with the honda in the mix. later in the evening they started screaming like they were passing kidney stones or something - i think they were maybe listening to the lightning/avalanche stanley cup game but wouldn't immediately peg them as hockey fans... then the family with the kids cutting through my camp started playing christian rock music a little too loud. after the kidney stones passed the guys in the honda started playing "devil went down to georgia" and a few others that i didn't recognize. eventually the christian rockers played "coal miner's daughter" and the honda guys settled down. christian rocker kids were packing while i was making coffee this morning, the honda guys were still cuddling or sleeping off their hangovers when i left.

then the possum's wouldn't have any food. You need to take a possum with you and they'll eat all your ticks.

possums aren't native to MT so why do we have ticks?

Apparently my mild dyslexia thinks so...

I gotta say, Weesa paints a pretty good picture of how the campsites get filled with all sorts of peoples. Ouray and Black Bear Rd are calling my name again, I just don't think I can swing the $2K in fuel expenses for another road trip to CO this summer.

it can be wild sometimes. its just a question if its annoying wild or funny wild. this weekend was a little of both.
hoping i can resume camping in my usual, less people-y spots soon!
