I use those storage boxes too - they are excellent and stack well. I also have a Goal Zero power source that is fabulous as well.
My Goal Zero lives in the cubby in the camper (on the other side ) and next to it is a small car battery that hooks into it to extend life.
It powers the lights, acts as phone charger, camera battery charger, and 12v connection to my CPAP machine at night. Worst case I
hook up solar panels to it for recharge.

Cool little shelf! Does it attach somehow or is it just sort of a wedge, pressure fit?

If you haven't, invest a few dollars in a tire plug kit. 5 minutes, and you are back on the road.

I know - people say you can't plug radial tires, bla, bla, bla. First of all, if you are stuck in the woods, any way out is a good way. Otherwise, I've run plugged tires for years with no issues. (And no leaks!)

Nice, yeah I havent gotten around to explore TX too much. Aside from Garner, Guadalupe etc. Ive been blessed enough to visit a lot of national parks w some buddies a few times a year. As I get older I do want to get a decent rig for more local/southern family road trips 4 of us + a dog. Been debating on a 4runner, GX, something along those lines.

But think of the fuel you saved staying at that speed!
At today's prices, I'd be smiling at every mile (even at 55 mph).

I went camping 2 weeks ago to a beautiful spot but I felt like the mountain climb forest road there was the most hardcore off-roading I had done thus far. I was bouncing back and forth the entire time and at first it was awesome but when I started to hit deeper and deeper potholes it got worse and worse. About an hour into the drive my back was already hurting and I hit a part of the road that was full unpaved dirt. I didn't use 4x4 but it was still a very demanding road and I was very glad my truck was lifted.... Anyways, we get to the top and a few hours later I see a 98 corolla parked there. I was mind blown.

Oh it takes quite a while... and I'm in Arizona where we get bitchin sun - probably 6-8 hours would do it. We are thinking about going
flexible solar on the top of the camper that way it's just always charging.

T2C what did you get for a lift? I did 6112/5160 and it really smooths out the bumps. Stock was just jarring IMO. I mainly did my upgrade for the clearance. I did not realize how much a difference the ride would be.

Agree with you on some other vehicles you see at the top! Trip I did a few weeks ago was not a hard trail by any means, but rutted out in some parts and some steep sections. Saw a Honda Fit parked on side of trail! Yes there are multiple ways to get to the spot I was at but nothing I would have done in a Honda fit. The driver did look concerned though as him and his buddy were outside the vehicle looking at the map. IN hindsight I wished I had stopped to talk to them, and also to warn them to not continue on as the trail went from a 1-2 to a 3 in about a mile.

Ehh my lift isn't the greatest to be honest. Its a dealer installed spidertrax spacer lift I'm pretty sure. But I don't do much offroading. I go off road 10 times a year max so I'm okay with it for now. It still helps that the truck is lifted for quick turns into steep driveways etc. but I completely realize it isn't a "real" off road suspension substitution. I figured its good enough for now. I do plan on putting in some real suspension at some point down the line. Probably when my warranty expires, my truck is paid off, and I have extra $ laying around lol. Until then, I'll just put up with the rough suspension when off road. On road I don't really have much complaints although it definitely could be more comfortable then what it is. I wasn't expecting luxury car suspension anyway from a truck, so its fine for now.

I love the boxes...BUT, due to the Alu-Cab, there really isn't an option for the quick releases to fit (unless taking the boxes down a size or two). So, they're bolted on...but it's great for what I wanted it for (I put things in there that I know I won't need often, but when my sliders arrive, it'll be a little easier to stand on those to get stuff in/out).

I do have a bit more of a centralized build thread on Overland Bound, but I think most of the mods are posted around this site. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions (or suggestions, I'm always learning!).

I agree, and a compressor should be part of that as well (I have some stuff ordered to put on in the near future, including a compressor, without that a tire repair kit is a bit less useful). In this exact case, it punctured through the outside of the outermost lug, so not sure if it is repairable due to sidewall proximity).

Same here. Include a BIG vice grip pliers. Sometimes what is stuck in there doesn't want to come out.

Yes, a compressor is necessary - and really convenient.

As for the puncture, you can always try a plug. If it doesn't work, then go get it patched.

We've plugged sidewalls to get off the trail. No, they didn't hold for long, but we drove out instead of needing a tow.
