Well of course it does. The point is you don't need to have a degree to be treated well and valued by an employer. There are other options than just automatically going to college and getting in debt for a degree.

I’m not sure that’s relevant. No one knows what degree you have, what school you went to or even if you have one once hired. Employee treatment generally comes from employer culture.

I think you missed my point though, you don’t have to go into debt to get a degree. I paid literally zero for all of mine and there are other options like community college which is affordable. The only people that get into large amounts of debt are those who have high ROI jobs like Doctors and Lawyers or those willing to get into debt for the “college experience” of going to a big school.

No need to rustle feathers. Each side thinks the other needs to be tried and convicted of treason.

They've already backed out on the coal fired power plants in Germany. I'm expecting the EU to quietly back out of their plans to go all EV or walk/ride horse back any day now. Set the new date 10 years later and claim science has allowed us to kick the can down the road once more.

Possibly. I think the market is going to be saturated with EV's by 2035 with or without government intervention. Aside from the inability to go on long cross-country trips without stopping for a 15 minute supercharge and maintaining solid distances while towing 5k+ lbs, EV's do everything better than ICE. Consumer demand is massive with vehicles like the Lightning having over 200k+ pre-orders. Ford doubled its Lightning production in August. They have now doubled it again, expecting 600k BEV annually by 2024. Supply is unable to meet demand on these EV's. The writing is on the wall.

Tesla has raised prices across the brand, and GM has raised the price on the Hummer.

People will tire of the staus quo EVs and move on to the next fad in the EV market. Look at all the used Teslas no one wants to buy. Used tech isn't all that appealing, how many people purchase used PCs and smart phones?

I don't think EV's are seen as tech to consumers in that regard, I think they are treated just like any other luxury/premium used vehicle. Look at all the used Audis, BMW's, Benz's, etc. you can get for next to nothing used that no one wants to buy. Picked up used they are expensive to maintain and initially marketed towards higher income individuals that usually don't keep them for more than 100k miles, hence the heavy depreciation like any other "luxury" car brand.

My thought applies to the entire group, no sides defined.

There are good and bad in both piles.

The only 'work' we see being displayed by the media is, as you indicate, self promotion promotion by each side. Someone somewhere is doing something right, but that doesn't make clicks count up.

If / when all these EV’s get on the road, many thousands of charging stations will need to get connected. Future demand for licensed electricians will definitely increase for the next 20+ years.

I agree, I also think you would be surprised how many already have been installed and exist all around you. Simply google "charging station near me". I've got over 15 within a 4 mile radius of me already in east Atlanta.

I totally agree that EVs are superior in every way except one. They are powered by dead end tech. A power generation source small enough to fit in the car, safe enough for bad accidents, and very quick to refuel needs to be developed. Then, the EV will smash the ICE taking a little more than 10 years to nearly wipe out the ICE cars.. Until then, I don't see EVs sales being terribly strong consistently. Keep in mind that the same thing happened to EVs in California a few years ago. They hit the market, sold out quick, backlogged orders. People couldn't get enough. Then, people started dumping them and buying fuel sipper cars like Civics and Corollas because of problems getting them recharged. It will happen again with these. The EVs that have any real staying power are the hybrids.

I was hesitant to sell my 3rd gen because I all I have owned for most of my entire life was Manual Transmission Tacomas.

Now I have truly capable Toyota and it's 100 times better than the 3rd gen.

I am also going to buy a FJ80 or a 89 Pickup very soon.

Life is much better without that vehicle. No regrets.

Plus the third gen is basically the 90s Civic ex of this era, but instead of Whale tales, cut springs/ground control, and body kits, we have raptor lights, amble fogs, RTTs for show, and 35s for occasional fire road travel.

The lightning has an advantage in that it's an electric version of the the best selling vehicle (literally of all vehicles) in America but those 200k pre orders pale in comparison to their ICE equivalent only accounting for less than 10% of F-150 sales. EV's generally only pick up pace when gas prices are high or there is a new trend to jump on but "better" is highly subjective. I have 5 cars and an EV doesn't do anything "better" than them. I have a few friends and a few neighbors who have Teslas and while they bought them more for tech than mpg or "luxury" they would never buy one again because of quality issues (e.g. their cars fall apart).

So for grins, I googled "charging stations near me" and there is 1 within 3 miles drive thats off a busy intersection in a Starbucks parking lot that. The next closest are 15-20 minutes away. MY old address, 1 within 20 minutes drive. I looked up my parents, there is 1 approx 25 miles away (45 min drive).

They are common in major cities (like Atlanta) which is where EV's are highly desired for commuting and not to mention air quality given the congestion of traffic. I took a trip recently to SFO for a day and it was nothing but congestion everywhere and overcrowding. EV's are ok but there are bigger issues in cities than EV's. Only 20% of the population live in major cities (using 100 cities) where I can see value in an EV, but for the rest of the country it's a back burner for several reasons.

Have you seen the electric Engine Los Angles Fire Department has? There is no real benefit to a BEV fire engine, chances are it will be out of service 9 times out of 10, which won't do anything for air quality. It looks goofy, and it will probably be more of a distraction than anything for the people operating it. If a vehicle has to be electric, why not design it to operate as close to what people are use to working with?

I had to google it but they trusted the EV so much they put in a diesel generator.
